The Domino was always the top bar in Leeds for a number of years, the kind of place where you couldn't have a bad drink and the live jazz and soul was untouchable. It had a reputation as a bar where you dress up a bit to go, no crappy trainers etc. We went last night for my birthday, expecting our firm favourite to still grant us a fun night. We arrived to the usual packed bar, but with latex-clad girls squawking around Mr 'jeans-and-a-sh*t-T-shirt' everywhere, swarming at the bar oozing school disco vibes. Forgive me for sounding like a boomer but, it made the bar feel 'cheap' and it lost that speakeasy feeling. The music, while the girl was a good singer and musician, really exhausted the tired trope of singer songwriter and after what felt like the millionth playing-it-safe 'Amy Winehouse' esque song for 2 hours, we fully just left. Sorry lass. As the place is a Jazz bar we had hoped for a little spice and flavour to the music, you know? The cocktail menu used to hit, with Floralis and Le Petit Mort being memorable drink experiences. Floralis used to be served with melon balls, a cucumber spiral, a bit of pepper, a complex fresh flavour leaving you satisfied with bang for your buck. Last night we ordered a Floralis, and were served literally sh*t lemonade and gin with a straw and truck loads of ice. Couldn't have been more than a single shot too. I don't know if The Domino are trying to save a few pounds by cutting back on things, but it was terrible. For £9!!!!! This place has gone downhill, such a shame too as after losing Poison cocktail lounge (Big R.I.P), Tall Boys beer joint, The Reliance, etc to Covid/recession. I would recommend Below Stairs or The Watermark to anyone looking for a decent drink in Leeds.

Predators not dealt with correctly

No proper measures taken to remove predators from the establishment. It was more like, let's grab the first person we can see who fits the bill and job done. Don't bother, the novelty of a barber shop front isn't worth it at all.

Music good, the place abit to expensive for what it is.

The whole experience with the cost is Average, music was really good. Blues and jazz bands playing I was surprised the amount of people in their late 20s, 30s and 40s enjoying the genre.
£8 for entry, I think it’s abit on expensive side, although it does keep a more cordial clientele.
I do recommend for the place to look into the built in seating by the stage, the stone bar over hangs the back of the seating and we kept banging our heads on the bar.

8 quid entry rip off

Went with a group of friends Saturday arrived just after 6 and were asked if we had booked , when told no the bouncer said it was £8 each entry fee. I have been a number of times and never had to pay an entry fee. We were a group of 6 and they want nearly 50 quid just for us to come in for a. drink. Clearly we were not the demographic they were wanting. when the cost of living crisis hits they may regret such decisions but they won't be getting my cash

Probably the best speakeasies around

Probably one of the coolest places and speakeasy’s I’ve ever been to.

Upon entry, you really are quite confused as you hear a faint sound of music and a doorman at the entry of a barber shop, when you swing open the back door, the jazz music hits you and down the stairs the bar opens up into a basement, with a live stage.

The cocktails are well priced and perfectly made, the music seems well fitting to the environment and the tables laid out perfectly like a jazz club. The experience here was fantastic all round and I would recommend this place to anyone lookong for a relaxed by fun vibe. Loved the experience as a whole.

Wonderful experience on every visit. Excellent cocktails and music. All the staff are fab (inc. door staff) who, unlike other venues in Leeds, checked our covid passports

I have been to the Domino Club many times and even reviewed it before. Nonetheless, again…

It is brilliant. Table service. Live music. Atmosphere.

Tina, the best waitress I have encountered.

Highly recommended.

What a find! We absolutely love live music so we were so happy to find ourselves here impromptu. It took us ages to find — even for looking for it! It’s hidden behind a ‘barbers’

It was £7 entry and when we got there it was dimly lit, candles, great cocktail menu and an incredible musician.

The only reason I’d give it 4 stars is because at 8pm they remove most of the seating so then you’re left to stand. There were some tables free but they weren’t offered to people and the dance floor was empty.

Overall incredible though and would definitely recommend. Staff are lovely.

Wow - this felt like time travel! It was a phenomenal night of jazz and fun, powered by truly delicious cocktails!

The atmosphere is electric and the staff went out of their way to ensure we enjoy our night!
