Arundells a must see

Arundells presents a moment frozen in time--at the end of the life of former PM Ted Heath. His many and varied interests are evident throughout the house (sailing, classical music, Japanese art, etc.) and offer an insight into the life of the former PM. Each room has a volunteer docent to explain and answer questions, and each room offers a different perspective. I loved Heath's office, with its view of the back gardens; and I loved the gardens stretching down to the river. I imagine the gardens in bloom in spring would be spectacular, but even in late September, there were enough blooms to enjoy. I visited Arundells after visiting the nearby Museum, which had a collection of photos from the local newspaper; taken together, I deepened my understanding of life in England during the 20th century.

An enlightening visit

One of best house visits we have ever done. All the volunteers were friendly and very knowledgeable, and obviously loved their jobs. To see this lovely house as Ted Heath lived in it made it special and provided insights into the less well known aspects of his life. Don’t miss this if you are visiting Salisbury

Forget which political persuasion you sway to, this property (Edward Heath's home) is a gem to visit. Full of interesting political history as well as exploring his hobbies and interests, he lived a full and varied life. IN the words of Michael Cockerell, the BBC journalist, he was indeed 'A Very Singular Man'.
Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed. As a bonus if you have a Gardener's World card, you can avail yourselves of the buy 1 get 1 free offer, meaning you can get in for the ridiculously cheap price of £4.50 each.

Fantastic Experience - Don’t miss this.

If you’re visiting Salisbury do not miss this. An absolutely fantastic experience.
The home of former PM Ted Heath. The house still has a lived in feel rather as if Mr Heath were still in residence. The interior tells the story of Heath’s life. Obviously his political career but also his love of music, his sailing career and his early years of military service. A truly fascinating insight in to a multifaceted man.
If that is not enough, the house and gardens alone are stunning. I can’t recommend a visit highly enough.

A really lovely experience visiting the house formerly occupied by Sir Edward Heath. Excellent, knowledgeable tour guides and a beautiful garden to the rear. I loved the music room and the display of political cartoons from Sir Edward's era in politics was, in my opinion outstanding.

Five Star Experience

A thoroughly enjoyable visit. The rooms are shown pretty much as they were when Edward Heath was in residence so you have the sense of a lived in house rather than a museum. The visit was enhanced by the friendly and knowledgeable Stewards and the gardens are lovely. Well worth the entrance fee.

A wonderful treat

We came upon this house on our way to visit the cathedral. It was a lovely visit. The helpers were very knowledgeable. It was a wonderful house full of interesting things and gave us an insight into Edward Heaths life. We then took a walk in the beautiful garden.

A Gem of a find opposite the cathedral.

Whatever your political persuasion visiting the former home of Edward Heath is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. The house is beautiful and the gardens worth spending time in. The guides will enhance your visit no end, so take the time to talk to them. Many of them knew “Ted” personally and have fascinating tales to tell. Sadly, we did not allow ourselves enough time to fully appreciate where we were, though my wife did get to play his Steinway Piano. I look forward to returning to do the house and gardens justice next time.
