I attended Ghost Tours at Llancaiach Fawr Manor. evening session on Saturday night. was very excited about going, wasnt expecting to see anything, but hoped. The house where the tour is held is beautiful and set for a ghost tour. But what I felt really let it down were the people who took us on the tour. A girl and a man. It was flat and the stories of the ghosts were flat. there was no excitment in their voices or actions. I didnt want to be made jumped or anything, but it would have been so much better with a bit of drama. I went on a Jack the Ripper tour years ago and the man wore costume and was dramatic. There was none of this. It was flat and mid way through people were yawning. This could be amazing with the correct people giving it a bit of drama, perhaps dressed in appropriate costumes..... I felt very disappointed and the way it finsihed, the girl said "I never know how to finish the tour!". What's wrong with..... Our tour is finished and have a safe trip home..... if any of our ghosts follow, please bring them home...... Make it a bit scary.....

This is a brilliant place! The museum gives a great interpretation and Co text for when you enter the building and meet the excellent “staff” who give a great contextual interior the day. All based upon evidence and context.
Clearly from some of the other tours that are occasionally offered - staff are dedicated, passionate and love the house dearly.
Can’t recommend this place enough for a fascinating day out.

This was surprisingly interesting and very well done. Went with my twelve year old and we enjoyed every minute. Learnt a lot about the period and the area. The ‘servants’ are not reading from a script but are clearly interested in everything that went on in that time and tell amazing stories. The Barber Surgeon was in residence and what a character.

Superficially you think "Oh yeh, another old manor house" but the tour and guides at Llancaiach Fawr offer you something really special. VERY informative and interesting, thanks

Lovely Sunday lunch, visited recently with family. Huge portions of food, well presented with a nice selection. Bright conservative with a pleasant view into the grounds. We had a fantastic waiter Max who was friendly and answered all of our questions and promptly responded to our requests. As a suggestion a cheese board would be a welcomed addition to the menu as it was all sweet based. Can recommend and hope to return.

Took my 9 year old grand daughter there yesterday. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Very interesting tour of the manor and trip back in time. My grand daughter particularly enjoyed being able to turn the large spit in the kitchen fireplace and learning how the cooking was done. Nice little gift shop also and pretty gardens. Well worth a visit and not too expensive.

My wife and I, together with friends attended a Tom Jones tribute night. The tickets included a meal of chips, peas and chicken breasts, to be fair were good and they didn't scrimp on the chicken. "Tom" and the band were great, keeping us fully entertained. We would definitely see them again if they come back. The only thing that let the night down was the lack of ice behind the bar! The young ladies worked hard behind the bar, but, they were struggling to keep making excuses for the lack of ice. One occasion I waited at the bar for 10-15 minutes for one member of the team to find the manager to get a small bag of ice. Rediculess situation, please get this silly system sorted.

Had a wonderful 2 hour tour of the Manor House today. Fascinating facts about the witch marks and protection symbols on the beams and door frames. Super informative guides telling great stories from the past. My daughter and I really enjoyed it. Well worth a visit. Lovely shop selling all things Welsh. We didn’t visit the cafe but wish I had it looked lovely.

Llancaiach Fawr is a Tudor manor house, restored and furnished as if it were 1645, just after the battle of Naseby. The house itself is quite small so what makes it so interesting are the tour guides.
When you buy your ticket you are given a letter of introduction, which is from a friend of the master of the time, Colonel Pritchard. The letter is to prove to the servants of the house that you can be trusted.
We were shown round by a server and an agent. The serving man showed us the servants kitchen and the kitchen for the master's food and the armoury. The agent showed us the Great Hall and the bedrooms.
They talked of the master's land, position in the community and family, their place in the house and their daily lives. Both were dressed in character and remained in character for the whole time, answering and asking questions as if we were visiting gentry.
It made for both an amusing but also very informative visit.
Looking around the house, without these two guides, would have been interesting but I would never have gotten the same feel for the time, the politics, the customs, superstitions, religion, food and conditions as I did.
This place is definitely worth a visit.

What a fun and interesting journey back in time. The guides were charming, informative, and stayed in character all the time they were with us. We learned a lot about the life in the house and the family that inhabited it, as well as some English and Welsh history more broadly. Well worth the visit.

I didn't do a ghost tour but had a really good accompanied tour. We just turned up and you could choose to visit alone or with a guide (in character and costume) for no extra charge. The guides really made the place come alive and would recommend it very much.
