We drove this road from Portrush all the way nearly to Belfast. the views are some of the best you will ever see. The road runs almost totally along the beautiful Antrim Coast and through most of the nine Antrim glens. There are several places to pull over and take photos, but drive slowly as some of these will sneak up on you. If you have the time, invest a couple of hours to drive the Antrim Coast Road.

We flew in to Antrim and picked up our hire car in the Airport we then drive though Crumlin and on to Portrush and drive though to Larne stopping off for view points walking or something to eat in the beautiful places of Port Stewart, Balintoys must if your a Game of Thrones fan a beautiful rustic harbour with the cleanest toilets, Giant Causeway a must on any trip to Northern Ireland just stunning . The coastal road is a delightful drive at every turn stunning views Ballycastle, Cushendon, a drive up in to the beautiful Glen Mountain’s Stunning Scenery a must when visiting beautiful Northern Ireland. Lots of little towns along the route everyone worth a stop . Carnlough does a great Ulster breakfast or if not lovely cakes and drinks . A beautiful drive. Well worth a visit.

During our 13 day tour of Ireland, the last few days were spent in Northern Ireland. On day 11, we drove from the Giant's Causeway near Bushmill, down along the Antrim Coast to our next stop in Ballygally. We were in a coach bus, and the drive is really takes you past some beautiful scenery, and gets quite close to the ocean water in many places. If you're anywhere in Northern Ireland, and have a chance to do the coast, even if you have to detour or take the long way....do it.

We recently had a holiday on the Antrim Coast and honestly, it was an amazing experience. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. We stayed in a Seaview 3 bedroom Apartment in Portrush which is such a beautiful town.
On the first day, we travelled along the Antrim Coast road and went to Dunluce Castle and then onwards to Giant's Causeway and then to cross Carrick-a-rede rope bridge to Carrick-a-rede Island. On our way back, we went to see the Dark hedges. Our final stop for that day was beautiful Ballintoy Harbour.
On the second day, we went to Belfast to tour Titanic Belfast. Then we drove all the way to Londonderry to dine at a lovely Asian Restaurant called Mandarin Palace.
On the third day, we did part of the Causeway coast drive from Portrush to Larne, making stops at Ballincastle, Bushmills, Glengarriff Forest Park, Glenarm Castle
On the fourth day, we couldn't resist doing the Coast drive again down to the Gobbins cliff walk which you absolutely should do if you're down in that corner of the Country. We then went to see the iconic Carrickfergus Castle. That evening, we had dinner at a lovely restaurant called Yoko at the Jet Centre in Coleraine.
Overall, we had an excellent holiday along the Antrim Coast.

We came off the boat at larne and were heading for port Stewart so we had two options go through ballymena or take the coast road . I’m so glad we took the coast road . We were lucky enough to have good weather all the way . Every corner we took revealed a better vista than the one before . There is loads to do on the road from famous attractions like carrick -a- rede etc to nice wee towns with nice beaches / bars / restaurants etc . We were spoiled for choice . There are loads of places to park up and take photos . Don’t go the motorway go the coast road

During our drive through the country-side of Northern Ireland (from Belfast), we enjoyed the many sites along Antrim Coast Road, a few being: National Trust Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Whitepark Bay Beach, and Dunseverick Castle. We saw all of this on our way to Giant's Causeway. The drive is long but beautiful. There are stopping points along the way to enjoy the scenery.

Touring Northern Ireland and visiting family and friends, we always take the Antrim Coast Road, a wonderful drive with so many historic places of interest, unfortunately some areas were still closed because of the Covid restrictions.

I drove a good part of this today but it was mostly in pouring rain so not that photogenic! There are lots of viewpoints to stop at with decent sized carparks and it's a great road to drive with amazing scenery. This time I Stopped at Magheracross to view Dunluce Castle form a different angle. Very wet and windy but beautiful to look at. All free too!

Travelling northwards out of Larne the road takes you through Drains Bay to Glenarm. As you proceed onwards the views become more spectacular but for sheer beauty of unspoilt natural scenery there is nothing to beat arriving at Red Bay and into the small town of Waterfoot and the 'Queen of the Glens' Glenariff rising up behind you.
The road proceeds to Ballycastle over moorland and busy farmland.
A great way to spend a day.

We decided to drive from Belfast up the Antrim Coast on a Sunday. Was really picturesque! Didn’t get to do the Gobbins Cliff Walk though (as it was closed due to COVID), but heard that it was really spectacular. Would like to stay up there (probably near Ballycastle) next time and would definitely visit Rathlin Island next time — we should really have booked the boat in advance but left it too late this time, boat was fully booked for days!

I can't find this road on google maps. How long does it take to go from Derry to the Giants Causeway using this route? Can you get lost? Hoping someone answers soon as I arrive next weekend. Thanks a million!

Thank you for your message, very helpful. I did post my question there as well. Will plugging in Londonderry and Giant causeway know to bring me along the coastal route? That's the route I want to take.

Is this the same thing as the "Causeway Coastal Route"? Or is one part of the other? They are listed here as separate attractions but reviews and photos and location make them seem very similar. Thanks!

Antrim Coast Road is longer following the east coast. Causeway is actually some part of it but just more near of these interesting sights & rocks towards sea.

I am planning to fly to Belfast and end up in Londonderry but only got 3 nights. Can you advise on best stopping points as most say it's ideal to do it in 5 days but I don't have that much time and have 2 young children too.

Planning spring(end of May) trip...want to do Antrim Coast Rd.(Larne up & over to Inishowen) after arrival in Dublin. Finding accommodations is proving to be difficult(sold outs). Any helpful hints would be appreciated.
