The 17th century fortifications are still intact and free to access ! We stopped in Derry en route to Portrush, parking at the Foyleside shopping centre. There is an entrance to thw walls nearby, just past the famous Derry Girls mural. It took about an hour taking a loop around, and we enjoyed great views and absorbing the city's history from a unique perspective. Lots of informative signposts en route.

We had a short stay in Derry and spent some time at the Derry Walls walking on our own. We enjoyed walking the area and learning about the history of the walls. The cannons are a nice touch and provide a fun photo op.

Fabulous walk around Derry city. Lovely and peaceful. Lovely to see which has so much history. Would highly recommend a visit.

Derry, or Londonderry, in Northern Ireland is a walled city. The fortification runs around the city centre. It is free to walk the wall. From the wall you get excellent views of the rest of Derry, which is lower down, in particular Bogside area.
If you come to Derry then a walk around the walls is a must do.

While in town we walked along the walls with a tour guide who gave us lots of information .
Some great old canons are still in place to see.
Lovely views out over the river and the residential area beyond .
Loved the old gateways, not a lot of room for the likes of buses to get through. Have a walk and enjoy

Le mura furono erette nel 1618 a difesa della città e si sono conservate ancora perfettamente. La passeggiata è molto piacevole ed interessante: si ha la vista su Bogside (la zona cattolica con i suoi murales), si passa davanti alla bella St. Augustine’s Church, ci sono i bastioni con i cannoni e le storiche porte.

A great place to start your visit to Derry, it allows you to see the city from above, understand some of the history, and a good view of the Bogside murals too. The walls themselves not that exciting, but easy to nip on and back onto the walls to see some of the craft shops, art shops along the way, to extend the experience.

No, you can do it yourself. But it’s not expensive to do the tour and the guide provides valuable insights into the city’s history and difficult conflicts.

The walls encircle the centre of the city so there's no specific postcode. Foyleside Shopping Centre is adjacent to the walls on Orchard Street, postcode is BT48 6XY. There is parking in the Centre and this might be the easiest option if you're not familiar with the city. Safe journey, enjoy the Walls and a big welcome to Derry.
