We really enjoyed our trip to the Dominion. The interior is fantastic, staff very helpful and friendly, and a really fun unique cinema experience. The food and drinks were definitely on the more expensive side, and if you are going just bear in mind there is to be over 15 minutes of adverts before the movie starts. This didn’t bother us too much as we could use this time to grab some popcorn and a drink. Would definitely come back.

I have just got back home from a very enjoyable evening spent at the last surviving family and privately owned cinema in Edinburgh. just the building itself is steeped in history. I have been going to the Dominion cinema for over 60 years and can remember Derek Cameron standing at the front door welcoming every single customer with a very friendly smile, especially for the young picture house goers. Then at the end of each film, Derek Cameron would stand in the same spot at the front doors to give a friendly thank you for coming.
The third generation of the Cameron family all do a good job of welcoming everyone and have a very good sense of humor once they get to know you and you get to know them. The staff are well trained, polite, professional and are so willing to help, especially if you are disabled. I would say that they go beyond their job description, that is one reason that I keep on going there.
The Cinema has 4 different screens, screen 1 being the biggest and for a little extra has got table service in the first-class seats until 15 minutes. before the film or show starts. There are single armchairs in each of the four screens which are good for solo cinema goers and two-seater sofas for couples or friends.
There is a disabled/ baby changing toilet and now right outside the cinema front doors., there is a disabled bay for two vehicles.

The Dominion goes cinema differently from almost anyone else. This family-run business has customer experience at the heart of what it does. It is an unashamed luxury from the cosy licenced bar, to the most comfortable seats (we had a sofa with electric footrest and reclining back), and table service right to your seat. Loved it.

I have visited The Dominion cinema twice recently and can without any criticism recommend a visit to anyone wanting something different from the large multi screen cinemas. Dominion have all the big releases and booking online is straightforward and easy. You have a choice of first class and gold. Domino is a beautiful cinema with super comfortable seats and plenty of options on food and drinks.

We were gifted the ‘Ultimate first class experience’ by a friend and what an experience we had. From the moment you enter you are warmly greeted, seated and looked after.
We had a reclining sofa with complimentary champagne, box of chocolates, bowl of chocolates, two tubs of Pringles and two bowls of popcorn. Everything was lovely. We also ordered the sharing nachos which I’d highly recommend!
The venue is totally unique and I can’t imagine there will be many like this is Scotland, so I’d urge anyone to try it!

I LOVE the Dominon. It's always such a pleasure to go there. It feels like visiting family, but in a good way! Always welcoming and lovely, comfy, hospitable and civilised. Lovely table service. Just lovely EVERYTHING. Thank you so much, Dominion, for being such a wonderful family-run, independent cinema making so much more of a pleasure than it is in most cinemas these days.

It had been awhile since I’d been to the Dominion. Something if an Edinburgh institute, the cinema in the heart of Mornigside has long been loved due to the fact it has sofas and comfy chairs as seating. It’s also got its own charm as well, staff uniformed in shirts looking smart.
It’s been done up and it’s Art Deco theme has been enhanced. The staff are still well presented and professional, even challenge some teenagers who were trying to ruin the cinema experience for everyone else.
The seats are well spaced out and the toilets have been renovated as well.
Over the last couple of years due to the pandemic we’re used to sitting on the sofa and watching films. It’s nothing like going to the Dominion and doing it properly.

A visit to this cinema was a cut above the rest! It was an occasion. I felt I should have 'dressed up.' The staff certainly had.
Before the film we enjoyed a coffee and wandered downstairs to view the photo gallery of film stars who had visited the Dominion. We had great fun celebrity spotting
The elegant staff were polite and helpful and were made to feel welcome and that our custom was valued.
The Dominion is fully equipped for the times. We sat on a reclining sofa with partitions and space around us. We felt very safe.
If you fancy a relaxing, enjoyable night out at the cinema - choose the Dominion!

A really lovely experience, all the staff are beautifully dressed and attentive, you are shown to your seats by an usher. The seats are reclining and very comfortable, the only negative was the soft drinks were very expensive.

I've been to the Dominion Cinema before (it's brilliant) but can't remember which screens are which. I know some of them are individual armchairs and some are two-seater sofas - any info on which is which?
The gold class voucher for 2 is £40 which is 2 sears, 2 drinks and 2 pringles. To book two gold class seats it’s £12 each. So assuming £5 a drink and say £2 pringles that’s estimated £36. So the voucher is not worth it. Am I missing something?

I wanted to get a ticket for a show at 12.50 pm on a week day.
What is the difference between the first class and the gold 1 tickets?
Because it looks like it is just the price since the first class service runs after 7pm.

I am afraid we do not have a online copy of our First Class menu at the moment. We serve Bavarian Smoked Hot Dogs and Nacho's as well as popcorn, ice cream, sweeties and nuts in First Class. Hi, what is the gold four cinema like please? We were hoping for a film in the first class area for our trip to Edinburgh but fifty shades most certainly not suitable for my 12 year old so thinking of la la land. It is a long taxi ride for us if it is not anything different to a normal cinema?

Depends what you like, it has lazy boy sofas that recline, can't beat watching a film in comfort, you get a pack of pringles on your way in My daughter and I love it
Take your own snacks if you want other choices

When are the gourmet hot dogs available for first class tickets? How much do they cost and are they served to be eaten during the pre-entertaiment? I am wondering whether to have dinner before our 7pm viewing or to eat at the venue :) thanks

We do not have gourmet hot dogs available at this time, but we will very soon! At the moment, you can enjoy our Mama's Bavarian Smokey Hotdogs which are priced at £5.50, which you can order from your seat in our first class section. We accept seat orders up to 7.50pm.

We normally do by 'phone but I would recommend getting there early to get a good seat if a new film.
