This was the first time we had really done any kind of wildlife watching since we were children, and we were very apprehensive about standing out and coming across as idiots. On the contrary, the rangers were so engaging and so patient in helping us to use binoculars, how to identify different birds and really help to build our confidence and enthusiasm. We were given really helpful tips fo the best time and places to spot the beavers and had some very successful hide visits, also seeing the pine martins and wild cats, as well as a host of red squirrels and a young greater spotted woodpecker who was beautiful

The food was exception and whilst we were initially hesitant about communal meals, these quickly became the highlight of our time there and Lady Lucy and Sir John were the perfect hosts.

This is a lovely home owner by lovely people. However if you are visiting for wildlife, save your money. No foxes, one elderly wildcat in captivity. In a week we saw 2 wild deer and 2 wild goats through the telescope. A few seals and glimpses of interesting birds. There is one night waiting in a blind where some critters come to eat peanuts and that is the highlight. They have a great mission of education and the center is a great idea. However wildlife viewing is nearly nonexistent.

What can you say, that has not been said already.
We spent a week in early June with my local RSPB group on the Summer birding week. But we got so, so much more.
The 'Rangers' with their staggering range of knowledge of all types of Flora & Fauna, Birds, Insects, land management, ecology, climate, local architecture, and just about everything else you can think of.... Alistair MacLean anyone!!

Sir John & Lady Lucy are the hosts with the most, with their dedicated team of professional & ever helpful housekeeping staff. The food was excellent, along with the accommodation, I just love the 'chalet in the woods' concept, with the Red Squirrels for company. Everything about the week was excellent.

Yes! it's not cheap, but then as this reviewer has said in many previous reviews, 'you get what you pay for...'
During our welcome chat we were told 'nothing at Aigas is too much trouble', never was a truer word spoken. Outstanding.

Every effort is made to enhance your chances of seeing the wildlife .
The location is so peaceful but full of excitement.
Lucy, John and family share their home with such generosity. .
We got the opportunity to meet other like minded people.

We had a brilliant 4 days at Aigas Field Centre in September. We had booked via the tailormade option, and enjoyed having some time to ourselves to explore the estate and spend hours in the hides (the Pinewood was particularly good for red squirrels, and we took some great photos) but also had excellent safaris with Aigas's rangers. We went in search of raft spiders and feral goats on one trip, with great photographic opportunities at a waterfall with plenty of fungi and wood ant nests to macro, and another afternoon did a slow walk around the Aigas lake, looking at insects and fungi. The rangers' knowledge and enthusiasm was excellent and made our stay very enjoyable. Our thanks also to Sir John and Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye, for some lovely rhino-related conversations and great care with my complicated dietary restrictions. The rooms are simple but exactly what's needed - warm, clean and comfortable - after long days out in search of otters and pine martens. We'll visit again, I am sure.

Our third stay at Aigas & I don't think it will be the last!

If you like wildlife & scenery, you won't be disappointed.

Sir John & Lady Lucy Lister-Kaye & their family & team go out of their way to make sure that guests have an enjoyable & interesting time.

The centre isn't the same as a hotel, but it's charming. The garden is beautiful to wander around as is the wider estate.

Looking forward to going back before too long.

Stayed for a week on the wildlife week - and practically everything met or exceeded expectations - great experience.

The area is rich in wildlife and had some great sightings, red squirrels are abundant and the photography hides for them ensure great views - the beavers were on show and with some persistence morning and evening showed including 2 kits - badger showed on 3 nights and pine martin on 2. A young tawny owl posed for a picture briefly too. The days out were good too - leisurely in pace, sight seeing including to the amazing dolphins on the coast. Recommend bringing own telescope if possible as whilst the rangers carry one, it saves sharing and some sightings are distant such as golden eagle and otter - the house does hire out binoculars though for a reasonable price. Slavonian grebes great to see on a loch not far away too. On this trip, no walking really far from vehicles but that suits of course those a little less mobile. .

The rangers / guides are great, full of enthusiasm and do everything to make everyone's day as good as it can be - and some sharp naturalists there too including with the placement students. The rangers/guides are well connected and knew of a local eagle nest and other wildlife in the area. The garden's are lovely to walk round too for when one wants to relax on site. The directors gave tours of both the garden and the house.

Suggest really talk to the centre pre your stay to ensure you get what you need - they have dogs around the house and common room but immediately offered to put them elsewhere if anyone allergic etc. The accommodation lodges was pleasant, a little tired in places but the site is coping with the covid pandemic and with staff recruitment challenges - but doing a great job. Just ask if anything you need and they really try to make a stay perfect. We asked for an extra night in the Campbell hide and we got 3 in total which was great.

All in all a great week and great people, particularly the rangers/guides. Recommended to wildlife fans and of course if Scottish highlands combined with another interest such as whisky, walking, trees etc as per the itinerary is your interest.

I spent a week here and loved every minute of it. Cabins were spacious, warm and comfortable with a lounge and kitchen attached. Food was outstanding, especially when I have food intolerances. Some meals were made especially for me and this was much appreciated. Covid restrictions were in place and adhered to rigorously making me feel safe.

The rangers were full of knowledge, very helpful and cheerful.

The various hides for pine martins, badgers and squirrels were particularly good.

Being autumn ,the landscape was very colourful with the trees changing colour and the visits out in the minibuses were superb.

Sit John and lady Lucy were superb hosts and should be very proud of their place.

I spent 4 nights at Aigas with a day out with rangers and an early morning trip to try and see otters whilst there.

Firstly Covid-19 related issues. The preventative steps have been well thought out. As well as comprehensive cleaning of rooms staff wear masks at all times as do guests when moving indoors or in vehicles. Hand sanitiser is Seating for dinner is socially distanced.

I stayed in a lodge which was clean, warm and comfortable. Lots of space for a couple and would be fine for a family group of 4 (2 bedrooms). The house has lots of space and I enjoyed a simple breakfast (fruit, porridge, toast and local honey or preserves). The 3 course dinners were varied and well cooked.

The grounds are tremendous for those interested in photography or wildlife. Several very comfortable hides are available and set up for different species. I got lovely opportunities to photograph red squirrels, pine martens, badgers and various birds. Unfortunately otters and beavers (resident in the loch) avoided me.

Staff are friendly and knowledgable. Sir John, Lady Lucy and Hermione all welcoming, The rangers very well organised and fun to be with for trips - I learnt a lot about wildlife, geography and local history. There are a students on placement for the year who are also happy to chat with guests.

Overall I was very impressed with the set-up, welcome and organisation especially at a time when so many challenges have been posed by Covid and related changes in laws and regulations.
