We ducked in to get our of the rain. What a pleasant experience! It was a very nice museum. Free (Donation requested and deserved) A great place to learn about the history of the highlands.

Visited here for an hour. It has 2 floors and takes us through the history of Inverness. Staff were very friendly and lots of artifacts to see

Visited the museum yesterday and thought it was a really nice wee place, isn’t very big but still had a lot of items to see and info to read about. Staff were lovely and friendly as well. Would recommend here if your about the centre of Inverness

I had a fascinating two hours looking at Scottish history from way back.
A bit disappointed that there was little real art on view (I mean paintings) but was told the exhibitions change all the time.
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
All in all, a great visit, and will definitely return when I hope there'll be more 'art gallery' and a bit less museum!

It was a very mellow visit, enjoyably meandering between the Museum and Gallery. It caters for all ages but for me the social history was fascinating. Well worth a visit.

This was a great way to spend 2 hours.
I especially liked the geology and early aspects of the local history; I like rocks and dinosaurs (!), local wildlife and the history up to about the introduction of Christianity, whereas my wife is more into later history e.g. Jacobites and beyond, so there’s plenty for everyone, regardless of age. There was a Primary school party in simultaneously and they were having a ball.

My wife and I really enjoyed the museum. Downstairs is ancient history and animals found in the area. Upstairs is a gem with information on the Jacobites and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Then information on fiddlers, tartan clothes, Scottish silver and a few paintings. There is a great special exhibit on plastics in the ocean which is well worth seeing. All in all, a great place to spend several hours
