There is a super walk out to the lighthouse. There are super views across the city - walked it early this morning (17/3) and while the sky looked dark the waves and wine were both incredibly calm.

An afternoon walk from Ringsend as far as the Poolbeg Lighthouse (if you're up to it) through Irishtown Nature Park is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. If you're interested in wild flowers you might find in Irishtown Nature Park among many others, Lucerne, Melilot, Hemlock Park or Broadleaved Everlasting Pea. A tip: the view from the bench at he entry to the park is spectacular, just sit there and enjoy the view while listening to the birdies is heaven.

It's a long walk to the lighthouse, but it's worth the it. Right in the middle of Dublin you can enjoy some nice views of nature and the bay, gather some beautiful shells or just relax.

Hear the word Nature reserve we automatically think wild animals and birds. Here it is nothing like that. There is a walkable path to reach South Bull wall and the tall red Lighthouse. Tolerate the foul smell. Just walk walk n walk. You will see the sea, seabirds,and ferries. This itself an amazing experience. Nothing can beat the Nature. No eatables are available, no toilets. So prepare yourself in advance!!!!!

L'endroit est peu connu et on y croise essentiellement des joggeurs et des personnes promenant leur chien. Situé sur le site d'une ancienne décharge, le parc naturel de Irishtown est un lieu très agréable et atypique pour se promener, entre d'un côté la mer (ou pas, si vous arrivez à marée basse !) et de l'autre les haut-fourneaux du port de Dublin ! La promenade conduit jusqu'à la grande digue, sur laquelle on peut continuer à se promener jusqu'à l'extrémité : un excellent moyen d'apprécier la mer, tout en restant très proche du centre-ville de Dublin !

Dog walkers paradise and jogger's heaven...5K out and back from beach road to the Red Poolbeg Lighthouse on ...bikers gate to the end and cast a hopeful line...no facilities or coffee just the south wall stones and a cool Irish breeze...parking at the power station no bus service...camera a must the first visit...watch the big boats wakes they spray you good at high tide...

What a surprise that I'm living in Dublin 4 for a longtime now and I never knew that this trail existed! A lovely walk which leads all the way to Poolbeg Lighthouse and offers wonderful views around the Dublin coast. Amazing birds and wildlife to be marvelled at and especially worth doing now that we are experiencing proper summer days!

I do this walk along the coastline from Sandymount Strand out to Poolbeg light house very often. I park my car at the end of sandy mount strand and walk out along the path, sometimes depending on wind direction the smell can be bad from the treatment plant, but mostly it's just great to be so near the sea, lots of birds and dog walkers. I know it's called a nature reserve, but I don't think you should be expecting much in the way of wildlife, there are lots of seabirds when it's low tide but I just see the place as a convenient place to get away from the business of city centre life. Best place to take fresh air in Dublin. There is a pretty spectacular view across Dublin bay at dusk.
