Firstly the games master was excellent, really friendly and funny. However, the room (Montezuma’s) was very broken. The end puzzle didn’t work so we had to shout the answer to the GM, the timer / hint screen didn’t work and at one point the GM had to come into the room to fix something that had broken and given us things we shouldn’t have got. The room itself would have been fun but in my opinion they shouldn’t sell tickets to the room when it is this broken. In previous places we’ve been we got given a full refund for a room not working to a much smaller extent but none offered here. Very disappointing

Me and my friends had never done anything like this before and were very nervous but the lady with purple hair made us feel very welcomed! she was lovely and explained everything to us and was very clear about what we had to do. We played through jack the ripper and we were a little bad at it but we had the support from the staff whenever we needed it and it was overall a really nice time! Thank you!

Me and my girlfriend booked to do the Jack The Ripper escape room here. We have done multiple escape rooms at different venues before this, which all went brilliantly. This was our first time doing one at game over, we were optimistic as they have multiple that look interesting.
When first booking they seemed very strict about being early, which is understandable, but they stated to be there 10 minutes early and 20 minutes early or incur a £10 charge. We took note of this and arrived 30 minutes early to make sure. When we got there, there was a sign which says “To access the building, please call this number no sooner than 15 minutes prior to your booking time”. This already annoyed me as we were there early as they had clearly stated this and now we were standing in the rain.
We called the number on the door multiple times, 10+ times over the next 30 minutes (even trying the second number on the door which didn't even ring). No answer. We then went to wait in the car due to the rain and look on the internet for another way to get in touch. We track down a number on their Facebook and call this.
After telling the woman on this number that we are getting no response and it is causing us to be late for our room she tries to get in touch with the room also and is unsuccessful. We then get to a point where we don’t want to waste the day so ask her to just refund us the money and we will go somewhere else and in response we get “we don’t usually do refunds”. We ask to speak to a manager but she said none were in.
After 1045 we went to look around town and the woman from the call centre got in touch around 11 to say that the escape room wouldn't be going ahead. She then asked if we wanted to rebook, we asked for a refund due to the hassle already caused and she said we'd have to email to request.
A hour or so later she called again saying we had to email the owner instead as she did not have access to the email we were provided and could not simply forward it on. We heard nothing for the rest of Sunday or Monday.
On Tuesday we had to chase them and called again. We were asked to email the owner again through the same email address, it was clear that the first one was missed/ignored. We were then told the accountant would be in Wednesday to process this.
On Wednesday we then had to send another email with the details for them to process the refund. (4th email) Once we did that we then finally got the refund on Thursday.
This was a very frustrating experience, we wasted an excessive amount of time on this and had to chase about a refund that should of been issued immediately, we were expecting to have to go via the bank for this due to the response “we don’t usually do refunds”. Our complaint which accompanied the refund request wasn't even acknowledged or addressed and no apology was given. The communication and customer service were terrible throughout.

I booked this room (maniac) for my daughters birthday. The booking was accepted but the next day we had an email saying due to staffing problems they had to cancel it and would we like to transfer the booking or have a refund. I asked for a refund as it was a birthday treat. Not much point doing it a week or so later. The next day they had suddenly found staff so we went. There were 3 of us. We didn’t manage it, but that wasn’t why we’ve rated it low as we’ve not managed other escape rooms but the experience has been great. The lady with long purple hair obviously didn’t want to be there. She took absolutely forever to answer when we pressed the help button so loads of time was wasted. We spent so long in one room, it was boring. Eventually she responded and told us she couldn’t help us! So we spent more boring minutes in there. Eventually she came back and gave us a clue which she could have done 20mins previous so we got the answer. Then the door was jammed so it wouldn’t open to the 3rd room. She said we had to force it. (We had been told not to force anything). We got into the final area but as so much time had been wasted we ran out of time. She came in. We went to reception and it was really awkward. When we’ve done previous rooms the host has had banter, and given us props and encouraged photos etc. She was packing her bag waiting to go so the 3 of us had to take turns taking pics of ourselves in pairs. Not a good bday treat and we won’t do any more rooms here or recommend them to anyone else. There’s plenty more choice elsewhere.

Firstly I would just like to apologise for the hassle that the change of booking had caused, I know it wasn't a smooth transition and I am greatly sorry for that. Our hint system is as you said, self paced and when there is just the one member of staff, sometimes it can take a little bit of time to get to you when they have other rooms to run! And also, when we say not to force anything, we mean not to break things or be aggressive! Pulling open a stiff door is totally okay ( as long as you don't break it ! ) but again, I am sorry we weren't so clear about that.
All of your feedback has been passed on and spoken about amongst the team so that this wont happen again and we wish you all the best in your future escapes! :)

The worst gamemaster ever encountered by far! She did not want to be there and couldn't care less about our game which made the whole experience quite unenjoyable. The room is fine although nothing you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere with people that actually want you to have a good time while playing. She barely explained the story/rules, took forever to give clues (it is self-paced so you have to guess how much is left to do and when you need clues). We will not be back since there are many other/better options in Derby and elsewhere.

My daughter and two friends played Maniac as a start to her birthday day out. They had so much fun even though they didnt escape and will definately retirn to try another.

To say this was an easier room, it was hard!! Doing it with a 9yr, 13yr and a complete newbie husband was probably why! The staff member was very helpful, explained things well and everyone came out happy. Great experience!

With Issac (and his fantastic impression of Jeffery Dahmer) we were guided into the Jack the Ripper Escape room. Absolutely smashed the first part and then got completely stumped by the second part!! Made it out with just 11 seconds to spare but had lots of fun whilst trying to escape!!

Hi, Thanks for contacting us. They may be a little young for our rooms but it does depend on the whole group. Our puzzles are designed more for teenagers upwards but our lowest age is around 8 years old. If there are a good mixture of younger and older players the game can still be enjoyable for them but I would advise staying away from our Horror room 'Maniac'. I hope you enjoy your visit to the area and Maybe we will see you soon! You're more then welcome to come and let us lock you up if you like. Kirsty

Do your rooms have people who jump out or scare you? I’m really nervous and would hate to ruin the experience for my friends. Would really appreciate an honest answer as I’m not just a scaredy cat I actually will pass out.
