We spent a great day out in the grounds of this hall (fortunate to be blessed with a warm sunny day). It was mid-week, out of season so very quiet and plenty of car parking spaces - very reasonable priced for a full day £4.60 parking compared to National Trust properties. We took a picnic, thinking the cafe would be the usual over-priced fare, but we’re surprised how reasonable their prices were compared to every other cafe we’ve seen in the Cotswolds this week; so in the end, we only had a couple of coffees (well made) and quality ice creams.
The grounds seem to go for miles, with fabulous views. We only left because our (ageing) dog had had enough after walking for approx 4 hours.

Came here for a quick wander round.Found that the the Pay and Display machine only takes cash and doesn't give charge.As I don't carry cash,I just had a quick wander round for a few minutes and left.

Pretty large for the suburbs to be honest and well worth the small cost of parking. Nicely landscaped and well looked after. Do go and visit !

Eight of us arrived at Lydiard Park without knowing quite what to expect. The stables cafe was busy but we realised that the newly refurbished restaurant opposite was open. The menu was fine and the staff provided a table. Three of us had gourmet burgers, three had chicken ceasar salad, one had nachos with cheese and an older member of our party has a child's portion of chicken gougons and chips. The service was efficient and friendly, the ambience was pleasant, prices were reasonable and relaxed and we'll certainly visit again.

Lovely place to visit. Parking isn't expensive, at least in my opinion. The walk was nice. The images look better online than the place does in person. But the surrounding area alone is worth a visit. It's a good place for a dog walk.

I’ve just returned from a visit here with a group of friends and we couldn’t be happier with what we saw.
All the staff where friendly and clearly loved the place. We saw the house, grounds, church, walked garden and had a delicious lunch in the stables tea room. Tasty and good value lunch with excellent ice cream!
The walled garden and plants for sale was a highlight for us but it was all good; and the church volunteers get a s as pencils mention for friendliness and knowledge

We held a family gathering for about 20 and hired a plot with a built in BBQ. The BBQ was disgusting, the wooden shelving was rotten and broken and the whole thing just grubby. Clearly there had been no winter maintenance . There were insufficient waste disposal facilities so they were overflowing in the areas where children played.
There was a warden of sorts walking around who did absolutely nothing.
The toilet facilities were so disgusting that no one wanted to use them. At the end of the day they were closed for ‘cleaning’… too late!!!!!
All in all a very disappointing experience given it was so early in the summer season. Typical council run facility.

Fairly big park and has toilets, cafe, ice cream. Small lake with duck and kids play area, w spent about hours having a slow walk around.

Lovely park to walk around once you could figure out where to go. The downsides though were the vile toilets (at 9.30am?) and the very lacklustre cafe. It was also expensive to park. The play areas are good but could do with some tlc like moss removal and a bit of paint on the railings to freshen things up.

fantastic park, with nice plays area, great walks for dogs and a tree surfing type activity. Only spoilt by a rather tatty cafe with limited menu.

The Park, House and walled Garden are not part of the National Trust, or English Heritage property portfolio.
It is owned and managed under the umbrella of Swindon Borough Council.
Car parking available on site, at a cost, but there are various footpath entrances too.
Facilities vary throughout the year, and looking at the Lydiard Park website should be able to answer many of your questions.
Does it have pram access? And is it breastfeeding friendly? I want to bring my 4week old to this lovely park.

There is a good track all the way round and prays, wheelchairs can access the whole track. Please not that after bad weather some parts of the track can become quite muddy, (mainly the wooded areas on the far side. I've seen others breastfeeding in more secluded areas and in my opinion I can't see any issues. it might be worth checking with the rangers office first to make sure it's ok to do so.

Yes, it is wheelchair friendly.. I am not sure about the actual house itself but you can get around the park in a chair with relative ease.

I don't think there's a bus directly to the main entrance to the park - however, if you don't mind a 5-10 minute walk, the Stagecoach 55 service drops you off at Windmill Hill and you can take a stroll to the park from there. Alternatively, if you take the bus into Swindon central and pick up one of the Thamesdown buses from the main bus station, there is a service (1/1A) that runs behind the park. If you get off on Hay Lane, you can walk down to Lydiard House and church then on into the park itself.
