Miserable unhelpful staff . Asked for cellotape to stick something to post . Refused to assist . The staff member looked as if I'd ask for a million pounds s Staff treat you like your 5 if you asked for something out the unusual. I've used other libraries in the area staff are only too willing to assist.
In future I would t bother considering I paid towards the new repairs.
Computers are outdated for a start. Asking for help on the computer is another issue.

Awful customer service! Refused me access to the toilet after being told I could use it, instead directed me to the nearest toilet which was ages away.
Would have signed up for a card afterwards but definitely wouldn’t ever go to this library now.

Asked for direction to the ‘Mystery’ section was told by the librarian that I had to find it for myself!!!! Then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours searching with the only assistance provided being the occasional shout or ‘warm’ - ‘warmer’ - ‘Boiling!!’ only to then be brought back down to earth with ‘Oh dear you’re freezing again!!!’ I’d literally only moved a few steps!!
I’m glad she found it funny, I gave up after spending 15 minutes wondering aimlessly around the baroque lithography section and walked home, then had to go all the way back as I’d left my trousers there (a new pair I had bought, not the ones I had been wearing) I’m hardly surprised to be honest after that debacle, in fact to be honest I’m starting to wonder if the person who I asked for help even worked there.

Attended the crafts sessions held during the summer holidays and both many children enjoyed beach and seaside session of making flip flops and listening to story. So glad that the library are holding these sessions for all children in the summer holidays. Well done,

Very nice staff and very helpful. Went on a Sunday so not fully open to look around. Looking forward to going back on a weekday. At least free arkibg on a Sunday

I am amazed with the new glow up of the library it is very spacious and has endless facilities I love going weekly to revise as it’s nice and quite most of the time. Also love the new kids section however I would’ve preferred if they did that on a seperate side or room as it can get super noisy when they have the toddlers / kids events on and there’s people trying to work, would appreciate if they included a water fountain /bottle filler so people can fill up their water bottles other then that I rlly love the Walsall library and highly recommend everyone pops down as theres something for everyone as they have now included a good few areas in the library which they didn’t have before including the teenage section!! 📚👏🏼👏🏼🤩

I popped in last week, for the first time since I came back from Uni, with the renovations completed, and was shocked: where are all the books?
The rows of tall wooden bookcases (and books) have been replaced by row upon row of cheap-looking Ikea sofas of ogling old men (disturbingly not reading books), and lines of computers. Behind, and sometimes beneath, these sofas are small numbers of throw-away paperbacks. The only collection that has not been cast asunder is the audio-books and the large-print, with is overwhelmingly Mills and Boon (whoever knew that the tastes of the poorly sighted would be so positively pervy…) The Classics section is smaller than that of your average charity shop, and the French section doesn’t even have The Three Musketeers.
Upstairs is worse, with more tables than history books (one was not amused), and less on religion than your average pew. All the books seem to have been removed (and destroyed? or thrown away? or burned?) to make room for empty spaces, and, well, air, which is not exactly the purpose of a library – that would be a field or a park. There might now actually be more books in the Wetherspoons round the corner. To add insult to injury, there are lots of pictures of books on the walls where there used to actually be, well, books?
It looks like it was designed be someone who has either never used a library, can’t read, or has decided in an act of vapid bimbo vandalism, that he or she doesn’t like the idea of the former, and doesn’t care for those who do the latter. Considering that Walsall Borough has closed down the majority of its libraries in the past few years (Bentley, Pleck, Pelsall, and South Walsall, to name a few), it’s very said that it seems to have gotten rid of most of the contents of its last.
This vulgar and inimaginative destruction under the cringe-worthy double-speak of ‘renovation’ is a desperately upsetting pillaging of an important town resource, and one of the few public resources we have, replaced by rows of computers and white-washed walls that’ll be out-dated, scuffed, and streaked with grey and black marks before long. It was only a few years ago I found good resources for my A-Levels here; I shouldn’t imagine they’d be there now, ‘cause there’s a sofa there instead.
So much emphasis has been placed on secondary, subsidiary, things (internet access, places to sit, to write etc.) that they’ve completely forgotten that a library in essence is a place of books. It’s a terrible SHAME for he-or-she-who-did-this-and-must-not-be-named (where is one’s bell when one needs it…, if you’ll excuse my confusing of analogies. If only I had somewhere I could read up on these things…)
It’s God-damn awful what they’ve done – and at extreme expense – why, why, why?

So many libraries are being closed down which of course is terrible and wrong. Let us hope this one in Walsall town centre is always open. A great library with great staff . It must never close.
