My husband and I visited Manchester Art Gallery 3/11/2023 having not visited for a few years. It was a great experience just to amble around the galleries looking at the art and artifacts. Just by chance we started to chat to a member of staff called Louise. Her specialty was Egyptology. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. A great way to spend a couple of hours on a damp Manchester morning.

Brilliant collection of art from around the world.

The staff are all over the place to explain different works and themes around the gallery. Some people don’t like the ‘woke’ concepts… there isn’t any?!

Anyway…. It’s a great way to spend a few hours admiring some beautiful pieces of art. We especially loved the Lowry collection and talk that was being held this weekend

Every time I visit Manchester I visit this lovely museum. Why give it 3 stars instead of 5?
To be honest i think the Woke Mind Virus had taken over this museum. They have a lovely collection of art but why do you think all visitors are interested in race, gender, politics, climate, colonialism and a vast array of other ‘isms’ when discussing art.

Wonderful works of great masters

It’s a must visit if you are in Manchester. We saw a lot of art students visit and work on some of their assignments also. Its free of charge to enter and people have to make donations to support this art gallery. Though Relatively smaller compared to ones we have visited in London, Paris and Amsterdam, still has a great collection and some over 500 years or older…

Always worth a pop in

The Manchester Art Gallery has for years been delivering brilliant displays in all galleries with thought-provoking interpretation and fascinating juxtapositions. Their temporary exhibits are thought-provoking and invite the community and the visitor into the process, even soliciting the assistance of citizen researchers in completing object files.

There is a lovely collection of Pre-Raphaelites and Dutch paintings, if that is more your style. The art on display is always moving and having conversations with each other which makes each visit an exciting experience.

It's free to visit so it doesn't hurt to stop by and see what it's all about.

滿懷期待地首次到訪，結果令人相當失望。整個展館很小，作品水準參差，各種各樣、新新舊舊的東西混雜在一起。好處僅是地點便利和免費進場，順路的話可以進去逛一個小時，但不用特意到訪。

Illiterate and inaccurate commentaries

I have b een to this gallery many times in the past and enjoyed the great collection of art works there. When I went in July I was bombarded with semi-literate Black Lives Matter propaganda, much of it wildly inaccurate, which spoiled the experience completely. The people in charge see the need to force their own obsessions and prejudices into everything, even when it is not called for. The only reason I've given two stars instead of one is that the pictures are still good and will hopefully survive well beyond the attempted vandalism by the ignorant staff.
