This is a great building which is worth visiting as a tourist. Despite the name it is not a typical library in the traditional way. It is more an information hub with exhibitions and a cafe. The tourist information desk is excellent.

Two interesting and free exhibitions in the library at the moment. A small collection of photographs from the Sex Pistols first ever gig in Manchester and directly opposite a local artist called Jean Hobson who does colourful cityscapes and other art related to Manchester and its history.

The library building is a circular, stone faced classically styled edifice. And inside, whilst there there have obviously been modern updates, items such as the reading tables and chairs have been retained, from the 1930's when it was commissioned.

My boyfriend and I came in here to marvel at the lovely building and visit the free exhibitions. There was a nice one on the late monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, plus an exhibition surrounding prostate cancer and its impact on the LGBT+ community.
There was also a nice looking cafe and a VERY quick lift- worth a ride.

我只是經過，看到標誌就進來看看，哇，好讚的圖書館，一樓的感覺很現代，還可以喝咖啡，到了2樓，發現是環狀的，中心是圓形的挑高建築，大家在這裡安靜的唸書，屋頂是像透明的頂燈，非常明亮，抬頭看好像是太陽一樣。外圍由是一個一個不同人名命名的小展覽室樣子的圖書館，可以在這裡看看，很不錯。

Hi, Yes it is. We have the MEN available on microfilm. Just go to the staff desk on the ground floor and a member of staff will assist you.

Hi again. I have done some searching for you and the nearest disabled car parks are at St Peters Square. there are other car parks but well priced at Queen St £5 for two hours 5min from the library.
Piazza £6'80 for two hours 7min from the library.
I don't know how much St Peters Square is. and I am unsure how many disabled spaces they have.
Hope I have been of some help and this is I am able to find out.

I am sure they would be impressed by the technology especially where it is interactive. However I agree that the science museum would be better as there are things of interest for all ages. It is a full day when I take my grandson

Yes we have the MEN on microfilm. It's on open access and can be viewed anytime, no need to book. It's in Archives+ on the ground floor, behind the cafe.

Yes, the library is open in August. However it's not open on Sundays or Bank Holidays.

What floor is good to sit down and do your own revision?

If you want absolute quiet while doing revision, then the reading room which is on the same floor as the music section.
Otherwise, all the other floors have tables and chairs where many are taking for revision time.
