Lucky for me I have a good support network because if I had've gone into this bar in a vulnerable state (or just lonely) I could've left feeling MUCH WORSE and alone. In short I was subjected to an unprovoked attack by the bar manager (verbal and energetic not physical). I went into the pub and was about to order and the bar manager (many of my friends know who you are bar manager) told me i'd had too much to drink and had to leave. Extremely rude and aggressive. I hasn't had a single drink and was simply popping into what I remember was once a lovely pub (i left Manchester some years ago).
Reading other comments i can see there is a pattern with this person. I think maybe he is unwell and in need help? I (sort of) have compassion for you if you are ill or were just having (another) bad day but my main reason for this comment is that you are hurting people who just go into your pub for friendly company (exactly as I did) so think you should be stopped.

Similar to others here I experienced rudeness and discrimination. Id been for a couple of drinks and something to eat at the Beagle (great bar) to celebrate my birthday. We decided to go to dulcimer as it seemed quite (I understand why now). The doorman greeted us and let me and 3 friends in. As we were just discussing what to get the first thing the barman said that he wouldn't be serving us this evening before we even had a chance to give him our order. No reasonable explanation. I don't like leaving negative reviews but hope that things improve their so that staff are encouraged to welcome guests not kill the vibe and ruin people's nights. Luckily we moved on to Electriks and embraced the busier but friendlier vibe.

Used to be my favourite bar in manchester but not anymore. Got refused service for absolutely no reason why I questioned was told numerous untrue reasons and then was told I was barred. Good luck running your pub if you refuse to serve your customers and insult them.

Have been coming here for years but unfortunately met the manager tonight. Its been a difficult 4 months of ill heath for my partner and I so were looking forward to spending time with our friends. When my partner went to the bar to buy a second drink, he was ask very rudely to leave. Apparently he refused to look the manage in the eye and was slow to order a drink. My partner is slightly deaf and was making a decision. That apparently makes him a drug abuser! When I tried to reason with the manager, I was asked to leave too. Very insulted, shocked, appalled at such a miserable person running a public house... for the public I believe! Thanks for ruining my first night out for several months. Highly recommend you leave the profession and find a job that you don't need to be nice for.

Absolutely abhorrent staff that when asked for 2 cocktails obviously couldn’t be arsed even though not very busy so then accused myself and my wife of being too drunk and slurring our words even though we’d only come out at 10pm and had 2 pints after a long day at work! Then asked us to leave as obviously didn’t fit there agenda. Disgraceful treatment of paying customers by a absolutely filthy and arrogant specimen of a man. I’m a local guy and see this secularist culture developing in a few other bars also. I would never wish failure on any business but genuinely hope this bar goes under.

Dulcimer is one of my local bars, so I don’t really want to give it a duff review, and actually I have just had a very pleasant time with lovely friends and a nice pint. But the shine was taken off the evening by the behaviour of the bar manager. I had just walked in, and started to order a round when he said he wasn’t serving me, and claimed I’d had too much to drink. I couldn’t make any sense of this, as I had had precisely two pints in a pizza place round the corner. As it happens, I spent my childhood in Glasgow, and although I moved to Manchester nearly forty years ago, I have still got the remains of an accent. I’m afraid that might have been enough for our jovial host to jump to completely the wrong conclusion. After a short discussion he did in fact serve me, but with very bad grace and not a glimmer of an apology. There are nicer places to drink in Chorlton.

Barman is a man with no redeeming qualities no manners never nice. I ordered a half of ipa beer when I asked if they would change it as if was exceptionally warm he quiffed what you expect it’s a cask beer!! So I graciously said ok I’ll drink it which he replied cash or card!!?? He said that I’m leaving so cash or card. I left without any hesitation, I went back next day and ordered a beer from the lovely barmaid Billy but than me personality came over and told me that I’m barred!!!!??? One day I hope someone puts him in his place

I came here to meet friends after work (in a bar) & all I wanted was one drink as they where about to do last orders, I ask the bar staff politely if I am okay to meet my friends in the back of the beer garden & I was told it’s full & I can’t , so I then say can I say hi at-least and accepted the fact I was refused so I went and said hi to see the beer garden not At it’s full capacity , I then came in and sat at a table with my freind as there was only one table in the bar my mate had ordered me a drink and it was on its way so I sat and waited for the drink and the waitress slammed the drinks on the table and I said thank you and she rolled her eyes and said we said you aren’t allowed in which is not true!!!!! What’s the point in having a bar if you wont serve people - rude staff & bad vibes !!!

Since Covid I felt determined to not support any place I hadn’t received a warm welcome. Which isn’t many, but dulcimer is one of them. By my Partner dragged me in to Dulcimer only to find out for herself how pathetically rude and moody the staff are. Tall beardy barman and ginger barmaid are two of the most miserable hostile people you will ever meet. They seem deeply unhappy to have to serve people, seems like they’re in the wrong job. Horrible vibes, the beer was a bit off too, but I didn’t want to have any more interaction with the staff so I didn’t say anything.we moved on asap. Will never go back!!
