If you’re interested in learning about wine this is an amazing
experience. Very interactive, informative, well laid out, spotless.
We spent around 3 hours here but could easily have spent a few more. We’ll come back.

Yes it was €22 to enter but it was worth all that and more. Lots of interactive displays which made it a lot of fun but also very educational. The entry price also included a glass of wine on the top floor with access to the outdoor terrace. We also ate in the brasserie which was excellent value for money.

Beautiful interactive tour of the world of wine. Excellently built spaces, clean organization, eventually tasting on the top floor with a wonderful view of burgundy. It deserves to be seen because it is quite one of a kind

Frankly disappointing visit. The only thing we remember is that we have wasted money and time.
22 euros for entry is excessively expensive. It is the same price to visit the Louvre in Paris and there is no comparison possible.
The visit consists essentially of youtube-style videos without really educational value.
It is a wine museum where there is not even a baric!
It has no tail or head and it mixes information, myths, stories without really interest.
Some scenes in the videos are played by Sunday actors bordering on ridiculous or having taken illicit substances.
Some screens are tiny and you can't see anything because of the audience.
Audio equipment is faulty and does not work when positioned on the red dot page system. On the other hand, it requires passing by other people listening to the video or watching a scene.
You never start the explanation from scratch. It’s extremely disturbing and you go from one booth to another without holding back or learning anything.
Finally, while Bordeaux is a wine region rich in heritage, it is insufficiently developed.
The only interest lies in the glass of wine offered by students who know nothing about what they serve and the view on the top floor (if there are not too many people).
In conclusion, an educational failure and a tourist scam. When you raise this point with the staff, they don’t care.

An amazing place of information, intrigue, and wine!
In all honesty, I thought the Cité du Vin would be a collection of Châteaus & Vineyards showing off their wares, but I was wrong.
This place has really out done itself with the displays, the multi-lingual information, and history. They take you through the ages & explain, in a language that everyone can understand, the history & the development, & the growth of wine throughout history. They even touch on the religious usages of wine, which is both informative, & eye-opening.
Sure to a car accident, my back is weak, and although they do have seating dotted here and there, it was only some small relief for my back. So imagine how chuffed I was when my husband pointed out that they had handy, portable, stools! Fantastic!
We didn't manage to do the whole Cité Du Vin, but we really want to come again on our next trip to Bordeaux.
Upon finishing the amazing tour we went upstairs to the 8th floor & we were given a selection of choice wines for a taster. Again, we were not disappointed.
You have a chance to collect either/or the Monie du Paris, in Note, coin, or even colour coin form. An added bonus for collectors.
There are ample toilets for customers, a boutique, and lockers to hold bags, coats, and other, bulky items.
I can't wait to go back!

Opinions are divided. For me, it sucks. As a wine lover, I find the concept and its realization lame. The large spectacular architecture serves to attract international gogo. The teaching material is based on screens and audio guides, without any real teaching. The headphones were too small for me to use normally. The explanations are rather indigent. The tasting is done on the 7th floor in a spectacular rotunda but we are offered rather low-end wines from all countries of the world, rather than a good glass of Bordeaux. The shop is lame and expensive. The wine library is more serious but paying and even quite expensive compared to the many specialized shops in town
In short, don't waste your money on this thing.

Nous sommes navrés qu’elle n'ait pas été à la hauteur de vos attentes.
Le parti-pris de l’Exposition permanente est d’offrir une approche interactive pour aborder les cultures du vin d'une manière moderne, originale et ludique.
Le concept de l’audio-guide permet notamment à chacun de personnaliser sa visite selon les thématiques qui l’intéressent le plus, et le fait d’activer de manière individuelle les écrans permet une synchronisation de l’audio et de la vidéo dans la langue de chaque visiteur. Par ailleurs, la satisfaction de nos visiteurs étant notre priorité, nous venons tout récemment de réaménager notre espace d’accueil pour favoriser la compréhension de l'expérience qui les attend à l'aide d'une première immersion sonore sur le Compagnon de visite (audio-guide) et d’une signalétique renforcée.
Concernant la dégustation d’un verre de vin au Belvédère, nous faisons en effet appel à nos partenaires viticoles du monde ! En effet notre mission est de mettre à l'honneur les vignobles du monde entier, à travers leurs dimensions culturelle, civilisationnelle, patrimoniale et universelle. C’est pourquoi nous proposons à la fois des vins de Bordeaux mais aussi de tous pays du monde. Nous comprenons néanmoins votre envie de découvrir le vignoble bordelais, c'est pourquoi nous proposons également dans notre programmation un atelier de dégustation en journée, "Bordeaux 360°", à la découverte de Bordeaux et son vignoble ; ou bien il est possible d'en apprendre davantage sur le vignoble de Bordeaux à travers des modules dans notre Exposition permanente, notamment Le vignoble de Bordeaux ou La grande saga de Bordeaux.
Nous sommes désolés que vous n'ayez pas trouvé votre bonheur au sein de ces nombreux contenus.

Amazing visit to the city of Bordeaux wine. Very well organized everything and the interactions are amazing, I think if it is the museum I have been to the longest.

Hello! I’m planning a trip to Paris and want to visit La Cite du Vin while I’m there. Any advice on traveling there from Paris? Looks like a 3+ hour train ride?

It's best to take the train, but plan 2-3 hours on the way.. Consider making the day of it in Bordeaux!
