The Secrets of Jewish Paris

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending two days with Chantal. One day was spent touring the Marais district of Paris and the second day was spent in the Lourvre. The Marais was once the center of Jewish life in Paris. Today, much is changed. Chantal, however, knows the secret places where Jewish life is remembered and celebrated. She is also something of an art historian. Our walk through the Lourve was fascinating as she explained the background to the major pieces we stopped to gaze upon. Chantal is a delightful person and it is fun to spend time with her. We do not hesitate to recommend Chantal to all who visit Paris.

Super tour

We went on a Jewish History tour in Sevilla, so we emailed our guide from there to ask if he knew anyone in Paris. He reached out to a colleague in Barcelona, who passed along Chantal’s name. We contacted Chantal who quickly responded and professionally responded—always a good sign—and a few days later our group enjoyed a wonderful morning learning history, and seeing where some of it took place. Highly recommended. (PS buy yourself a felafel at a nearby restaurant after the tour!)

Extremely Knowledgeable Tour Guide

My wife and I took two tours with Chantal. The first was of the Marais district in Paris. Chantal gave us a comprehensive tour of the area and its history with an emphasis on the history of Jewish Paris, of which the Marais was once its center before the Nazi occupation. Our second tour was of Fontainebleau and the nearby town of Moret sur Loing. Both tours were excellent. Chantal lived in the Marais area as a girl and lives now in Fontainebleau so she brought a personal perspective to the places we visited above and beyond the deep knowledge she has of both areas. We enjoyed our tours and thought Chantal was an outstanding guide.

Wonderful Tour with Chantal

My husband Jim and I have visited the Marais district several times over the years, but this time decided to take a tour of the Jewish Quarter with Chantal. It was one of the most special hours of our trip to Paris. Chantal talked about the history of the quarter, the changes that have taken place in the past 20 years (the disappearance of many Jewish landmarks) and her own family history. We also visited a couple of Jewish centers not generally open to the public. Chantal is also a vivacious person, and it was a pleasure to spend time with her. We highly recommend Chantal's tour. Merci, Chantal!

AMAZING!

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Chantal in Paris and having her personally spend half a day with us in the Marais area or Jewish Quarter of Paris. This was one of our best and most memorable days in Paris.
Chantal is a delight! She is sweet, warm, funny and SO knowledgable! She shared information with us, not only about the history of the area, but her own history which added so much to our experience. She took us places that one would not be able to visit or even know about if you were not with her.
Besides the historical sights, Chantal took us to a most delicious bakery and falafel restaurant that added to the wonderful day!
When we said good-bye, I felt as if I had known Chantal for more than just several hours. I highly recommend her tours. You will not be disappointed.
As my husband said when we walked away, there clearly are "no words" to describe how special and moving that day was for us!

Amazing Jewish Tour

Today we had a wonderful tour and learned so much from Chantal. She is a delight; and full of information, insight and historical knowledge of the French Jewish community -past, present and future. It was a pleasure. I suggest that those interested in the Jewish perspective of France should not miss this tour. Money well spent without question. Thank you Chantal!

There is no better than Chantal Biton

I cannot speaker more highly of Chantal. She was easy to work with, a joy to spend the day with, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her job. We not only perfectly customized together based on my desires, but she adjusted the tour spontaneously to accommodate the weather. If there was a "10 rating" I would give Chantal a "10" !

Our travel agent, Elaine Quartin, hired Chantal to take 10 of us, including Elaine, around Paris for 5 days. She met most of our group at the airport with a van and driver then picked us up at our hotel and took us on a day long tour around Paris. The next day she took us on a half day tour of the d'Orsay. For our third day she arranged to get tickets for the Louvre and lead us around for 4 hours and then left us to tour on our own. The next day was a tour of Versailles and Trianon. Finally, on the last day she took us to the Jewish areas of Paris, including the area in which she lived and intimately knew.
Our group had several members who had difficulty ambulating. Chantal was very helpful tailoring our tours to fit our needs.
I would whole-heartedly recommend Chantal if you want a knowledgeable guide who is intimate with Paris.

Excellent Jewish walking tour Marais

Chantal took us around the Marais on a Jewish walking tour last week. She is knowledgeable, enaging and taught us a lot about Jewish life in France both historically and in the present. We enjoyed meeting her and no subject was out of bounds for us to ask her. I would strongly recommend her to anyone wanting this sort of tour in Paris.

Wonderful experience

Chantal enriched my life by showing me the Jewish district of Paris, Marais. She shared with me so many unforgettable facts & facets of Jewish life in France and she introduced me to marvelous people and spectecalur & simple places. She personalized the tour to my needs, answered all my questions to my fullest sarisfaction and provided many pointers for further investigation. It goes without saying, I will ask her again for a guided tour, next time I am in Paris and recommend her to everybody, who is interested in a very knowledgeable and at the same time very entertainng tour guide in the probably most beautiful city of th world.
