Located within Square Paul Painleve, is a marble statue, dedicated to the memory of the French artist Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, (1824-1898) a french painter.

Just outside Musée de Cluny is the small Square Paul-Painlevé, where you can view a handful of interesting statues including the artistic Monument of Pierre Puvis de Chavannes.
This sculpture is the works of French sculptor Jules Desbois and was erected here 1924. Here you find a stone bust of the French painter. The sculpture includes a female figure clutching and draping herself around stand which holds the bust, creating an elegant, sad and moving image that is worth spending a few minutes to enjoy.
You can view the Puvis de Chavannes monument and others at Square Paul-Painlevé in no more than 15 minutes. Then continue onward with other intended sightseeing.

Dans le petit square Paul Painlevé, cette belle réalisation rend hommage à Puvis de Chavannes, peintre qui a notamment réalisé des fresques au sein de l'amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne. C'est l'oeuvre du sculpteur et médailleur français Jules Desbois, décédé à Paris en 1935. Une belle sculpture qui se trouve d'ailleurs à deux pas de la Sorbonne.
