Every time I went to Puces des Vanves most vendors left around 1pm. Last time I was in Paris - last May - I got there at 8 am and many stands were ready to go. So it's probably a good idea to do the flea market first and the catacombs after. Have fun!

Hi, The market at Vanves runs every weekend morning, all year. If I were you, and in Paris in early June, I'd look at "Aladin" online for "Ile de France" to see what brocantes are going on. Some of the "vide greniers" can be better places to find good stuff at v. reasonable prices than most flea markets.

Nice shoes? Not likely. Vanves has 2 markets, one really an antique market, old and collectible items, in the mornings, and in the afternoon, there's a market selling cheap things, many imported from China. On Sunday mornings there is a market at Malakoff where a couple sell new good-quality walking shoes (not high fashion but comfortable, many of them made in Italy) . (Malakoff is just south of Vanves, at the Malakoff-Plateau de Vanves métro).

You might find better suitcases at Carrefour supermarket. At least they would be lighter in weight. Those at the flea market are usually vintage types which tend to be very heavy. Also, it is not a sure thing that you will find one. It is hit and miss. I would suggest you back a small empty duffel bag in your suitcase. You could line your suitcase with it and place all your clothes in it and simply remove the clothes at your destination and voila- an empty duffel bag. Enjoy your trip.

Hi, We enjoy the Marché aux Puces at Vanves but, while they have interesting antiques and collectibles, it's not a place to buy used suitcases. The best place we've found is Rayon d'Or, 178 rue du Temple, métro Temple or Répubique, where they sell good sturdy suitcases, new, at low prices. It's always our go-to place if a zipper quits working shortly before a trip. Bon voyage!
