I never get tired of gazing at this classic arch, built during the era of Louis XIV. No one really looks at the decorations that celebrate his rule, but we all admire the dominance of the area. Lots of cool restaurants and cafes around here, a crossroads.

A rather impressive gate that was part of a wall used in medieval times to protect the city. Now one of the many attractions that make up this wonderful city, the area, is also a must to visit full, shops, cafes and restaurants that are worth the visitors attention.

Cet arc se trouve entre la rue Saint-Denis et la rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis. Monument construit en 1672. Classé monument historique, il présente de nombreux détails sculptés. Par contre, la saleté des oiseaux et les incivilités des habitants de ce quartier populaire ne le mettent vraiment pas en valeur.

Le 1 er Arc de Triomphe en dur ( avant ils étaient en bois ou carton ) , inspiré de l’arc de Titus à Rome . Érigé en 1672 à la gloire de Louis XIV . Sur l’emplacement de l’enceinte Charles V . L’un des monuments les représentatifs de l’art nouveau de l’époque. Vestige, conformément au souhait de Colbert , d’élever des portes monumentales entre la ville et les faubourgs.

Served as an entry point where taxes could be collected back in the Middle Ages, unfortunately we were on a bus tour and had no time to stop but worth a look.

Returning to out hotel from L'Arc de Triomphe at night, we passed under Porte Saint-Denis. It was particularly beautiful at night with the lights.

We first saw this at night simply stunning with the lights shining on it, it is actually located in a cool neighbourhood awesome cheap shopping to be had. Quite an impressive structure, looking at it during the day, it actually looks a little out of place in the modern world, life just goes on around it.

Walking further down along the boulevard, we came upon another arch call the Porte Saint-Denis. It looks like the other 2 arches but smaller.
