Several restaurants ring the square and this is a pleasant spot for a drink. I don't recommend any of the restaurants for meals, though, as they are very ordinary.

on our short stay in Carcassonne we visited Place Carnot daily and ate at different restaurants. It is a very special location and there are so many spots to observe the world go by. There was live music most of the time and local people always hugely outnumbered the visitors which is so important to us on holiday. On market day the Place was even busier. All roads in Carcassonne lead to Place Carnot and that is no bad thing.

Una piazza tranquilla, ideale per rilassarsi, ricca di locali dove mangiare. In settimana è presente un piccolo mercatino che rende la piazza davvero caratteristica. Da visitare assolutamente.

Place Carnot doesn't seem the same now it is a pedestrian zone. it doesn't feel so busy and noisy as it used to be. It is certainly cleaner and quieter but i prefer the old atmosphere. The big market has also moved to rue Barbes which used to be such a picturesque scene.

Il centro intorno a cui nasce la città nuova.
Siamo stati una domenica e a parte vari locali aperti c’era poco da fare, so comunque che in alcuni in giorni della settimana si tiene il mercato.
Negozi non molto interessanti, premio comunque la frequentazione, i dehor sono tutti pieni e risulta un’are molto viva.

It's never easy to "live" outside a fortress like Carcassonne's. The Fortress attracts everything around it leaving often the cities devoid of a life of its own. Place Carnot is proof that this is possible. A square full of life that becomes the center of Carcassone outside the Fortress.

Place Carnot is a typical French square located in Carcassonne (not in the old town), a city in Occitanie Region, in the South of France. It is a square with a lot of trees, where there are some bars and restaurant to eat something. In fact, it is a nice square, where autochthonous people meet each other. Also, it is the Market Square in the city. In this place, there is a marble fountain of Neptune. A typical place to walk, relax, eat, or drink something and play with children.

Salvo cuando se hacen mercadillos, en esta plaza abundan los locales tipo bar, cantina, cafetería. Estando en el centro de esta parte de la ciudad, en su entorno hay unas cuantos locales con productos típicos. Por supuesto que los vinos y los quesos son los lideres, pero hay otros productos muy interesantes como las trufas y derivados, el embutido de pato, sin apenas grasa, etc.
