Dit gebouw met een schitterende gotische gevel werd nagenoeg volledig herbouwd na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Er zijn nog delen uit de 16e eeuw. Op het hekwerk bij de binnenplaats aan de Rue aux Juifs hangen borden met uitleg van dit prachtige gebouw wat zowel dienst deed als gerechtsgebouw en als parlement van Normandië.

The Normandy Parliament is a striking edifice, a long and diverse Gothic complex compromising of several buildings which were added and enlarged over the centuries. It's set in the old town of Rouen - capital of Normandy.
We hadn't a chance visiting it inside and I'm not sure if it's possible. However, part of it was under reconstruction and on the fence several plaques were displayed explaining its history which was quite interesting.

On the edge of the old town and worth a visit to see this grand building. Built in Gothic style it has a modern open space in front of it before opening up onto a busy road. Seemed quite busy when we were there with the number of people coming in and out.

Historiquement Parlement de Normandie, et joyau de l'art gothique à Rouen, le palais de justice a subi de considérables dégats, mais a ètè remarquablement restauré.
Souhaitons qu'à l'avenir il puisse redevenir un haut lieu de culture et d'art à Rouen, lorsque le remarquable intérieur redeviendra accessible !

Je n'ai pas pu visiter de superbe bâtiment devenu Palais de Justice, mais j'en ai fait le tour complet, fascinée par son architecture mi-gothique mi-Renaissance. C'est superbe de beauté.
En sachant qu'il a été très endommagé lors de bombardements en avril et août 1944, je constate qu'il a bénéficié d'une rénovation très réussie. Seuls subsistent les stigmates des bombardements à l'angle de la rue Saint-Lô et de la place du Maréchal Foch. J'ai apprécié qu'ils aient été conservés afin de constater une petite partie des dégâts causés lors de cette Seconde Guerre mondiale.
La Parlement de Normandie est magnifique, comme tout le Vieux-Rouen que j'ai eu le privilège de visiter.

Extremely dominant, and lovely, building smack in the middle of vieux Rouen. You can't miss it if your'e walking from old square to the cathedral (or vice versa).
It's a splendid renaisannce building with a super gothic exterior. Now the courthouse of Normandie.

I have never been inside but the outside is impressive. In places, there are clear holes and shrapnel marks left from WWII. I find it useful in understanding the position and importance of Rouen over the centuries.

Vous promenant dans la vieille ville vous ne pourrez manquer de voir cette somptueuse façade renaissance qui exprime encore son attachement au gothique par ses pinacles.

Le Parlement de Normandie est aujourd'hui un tribunal, on ne le visite donc pas. Mais la façade est très ouvragée et vaut le détour.
