Great experience - not to be missed!

Our family group of four enjoyed a wonderful food tour with Janicke on a beautiful morning in Provence. Throughout the tour, Janicke provided historical information about Aix-en-Provence as well as highlights of French eating in this region. Not only was she very entertaining, she was fun! We had the best time learning, walking through the farmers market and shops, and sampling! She thought of everything to make our tour special. This was a highlight in our two and a half week stay in France. I would not miss this experience if you love fresh food and French history.

Mathilde is the best!

What a great introduction to Old Aix! Mathilde knows all the history from the city founding by Sextius Calvinus in 123BC. The patisserie Béchard was established in 1870 and is still run by the same family!
Mathilde is a food specialist, historian, and linguist. She is lots of fun and has exceptional energy. Great fun for English Francophiles!

Enthusiastic and informative

Janicke was our guide for the tastes of provence, and gave us a complete tour of Aix. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We learned quite a bit about the history of the area as well as had tastings along the way, including the unique calissons. At the market, we tasted olives and garlic, strawberries and cherries in season, and had a tray of assorted cheeses and meats that were fresh and delicious.

There is quite a bit of walking in this tour, and not much sitting down at cafes. It's as much a walking tour of the city as a food tour. At the end, we did sit at a wine shop and tasted the local rose. It was a fitting end to the tour.

Food Market Tour

What a wonderful experience. Mathilde was so knowledgeable. It was cool to see the shops and merchants she uses for her cooking school. She was great about pacing things to fit our large group of ten. The food sampling was fabulous and it was great to hear the story behind the food. My only suggestion is skip or plan a light lunch after because you will be full.

Fun and informative tour of the Aix en Provence market

We had a wonderful tour of the Aix en Provence market with Mathilde. She was fun and knowledgeable and we had tastes of some great local food, along with interesting information about the area. She gave us some tips on finding true local produce and merchandise at the market, which we used while shopping in the days that followed. This was our fourth time to Aix en Provence, but Mathilde really added depth to our knowledge of the area. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone planning to be in the area.

Best tour in Provence

Our guide is amazing, my experience is beyond my Expectation, she is very warm, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We not only tasted the best food in provence , given all the insight of the city with interesting stories, I highly recommend to every one visit Aix-end-Provence.

Jennifer took us around some of the old town of Aix and explained some of the history which was very interesting and insightful, especially when it involves food! It is interesting hearing some of the food etiquette that the French follow in contrast to the British. She is passionate about the food produced in the area and has a very good relationship with the producers you meet. You get to taste the seasonal produce as well as some of the local delicacies. Highly recommended!

The highlight of our trip to Provence

If you like history and food then this is a fantastic tour! We were so bowled over the knowledge and passion of Jennifer and she was also a personable and fun guide. Ending the morning with some delicious cheese and wine was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Great tour

Great tour with our guide Matilda. It was a wonderful way to get oriented to this special city. We had many opportunities to taste a variety of foods. Each tasting was accompanied by fantastic descriptions from our guide. She knew many of the local vendors which was really nice. We also had a delicious wine tasting. Matilda knew so much history, even the date that the Rotunda fountain was built!!

We had an amazing time with Jennifer. A lot of fresh fruits and products. Jennifer relationship with the sellers where amazing and we got a lot of tree samples that not was a part of the tour itself. Top tour
