Le funiculaire a été modernisé et garde quand-même un certain charme. La montée ne dure que 5 minutes sur des voies et ses alentours correctement entretenue. L’achat des billets est très pratique avec un automate proposant plusieurs langues dont le français ou bien une caisse. C’est un peu cher : 9 Euros aller-retour par adulte. Il permet d’accéder à une colline avec une super vue sur Baden Baden, et un bar où on peut manger en terrasse

We walked to the funicular from our hotel for the exercise. While only 2.2km the majority is up hill. Coming back was a breeze. We arrived early in the day, there was no wait, and we got n the first car. A round trip ticket was 7€, cash only. There are a couple ticket machines that supposedly take credit cards. The ride to the top took five minutes. At the top there are trails for biking or hiking, restrooms, and a restaurant (also cash only). There are good views from the top. When we got back to the bottom around noon, the line was probably 30-40 people long waiting to go up, and the parking lot was completely full.

Quand la météo nous le permet, je dirais que c’est une attraction à ne pas loupé. La vue est à coupé le souffle. Tellement magique de pouvoir passer de la ville à la montagne en quelques minutes.

Superbe idée de balade et pour pas cher....c'est le funiculaire de Baden Baden ou il faut aller! Nous avons adorés cette sortie ou la récompense d'une super vue s'offre à nous, vous pouvez y emmener votre pique-nique pour prolonger votre journée, des tables vous attendent, que du bonheurs!

The funiculars are brand new and in fab condition. Unfortunately the day we visited was exceptionally cloudy and we couldn’t see any of the incredible views from the top, but it was worth the ride all the same.

Die Merkurbergbahn bietet eine tolle Möglichkeit, um auf den Berg hoch zu kommen. Wer mit Höhenangst unterwegs ist sollte auf einen Platz ganz vorne oder hinten eher verzichten. Nichtsdestotrotz erhält man einen tollen Ausblick über die Landschaft. Preislich ist die Bahn mit 6€ für Auf- und Abfahrt kombiniert vollkommen in Ordnung. Oben angekommen kann man in aller Ruhe Gleitschirmfliegern zu sehen oder für eine noch bessere Aussicht auf den Turm hochfahren. Sehr empfehlenswert.

A faire lors d'une visite à Baden Baden. L'ascension en funiculaire est rapide et à tarif raisonnable.
Au sommet présence d'une tour dans laquelle on peut monter via un ascenseur. Superbe vue sur toute la région !
Nous sommes redescendu à pied jusqu'au parking à travers la forêt noire: compter une bonne heure. En revanche le chemin est parfois mal indiqué, nous avons du faire demi tour après avoir pris le mauvais chemin à une intersection où il n'y avait aucune indication.

We took the train up and down. The views from the top is breath taking. You can also take the elevator to the top deck of the tower for even better views. It is a must see in Baden Baden

La montée en funiculaire est reposante, puis la vue une fois arrivée tout en haut est à couper le souffle !

Hi,
Did you go there using public transport? If so, do you know what's the quickest way to get to Merkur Mountain from Baden Baden Train Station? I read some threads here about using the bus to the town and catch another bus to the Funicular Station but these info was a bit outdated. We intend to just spend maximum of three hours from the train station to the mountain and back. Many thanks

We took a direct bus from the train station to Merkurwald. It runs once every hour if I remember correctly. We spent 20-25 mins waiting for the direct bus instead of taking one to the city centre. On the way back, we got down at the city centre. 3 hrs might be a bit tight in my opinion as waiting for the bus takes a bit of time and the ride takes even longer.

1. Would like to go on the funicular train up to the top. Will be driving a car from Baden-Baden airport. Is there a parking area before boarding the Funicular , and how far do you need to walk? Would like to know more on the walking required as will be having small children.

1. Yes, there is plenty of parking at the entrance. The funicular is easily accessible from the parking lot with small kids and carriages.
2. There's an automated machine - bring small denominations of cash to purchase tickets. You can also selected the language to purchase the tickets. You may be lucky and have an attendant nearby to help you.
