Der Frauentorturm ist ein historisches Stadttor im Südosten der Altstadt von Nürnberg, direkt neben dem Königsturm. Um ihn herum befindet sich der sehenswerte Handwerkerhof mit kleinen traditionellen Handwerksläden und rustikalen Restaurants.

Frauen Tor: è il primo edificio storico di Norimberga che si incontra appena usciti dalla stazione ferroviaria. Si tratta di un torrione cilindrico di origine medievale con rifacimenti del XVI (Ma in Germania il 1500 era ancora, dal punto di vista artistico e architettonico, Medioevo Gotico). Al torrione si affiancano una porta d'ingresso verso il centro storico della città e una parte delle antiche mura. A questa partedi mura corrisponde, verso l'interno, l'Handwerkerhof: un percorso fra negozietti di prodotti artigianali collocati in piccole casette in stile. Tra gli immancabili bar e le sciocchezze per turisti, ci sono raffinatissime pasticcerie artigianali da non perdere

Vom Hauptbahnhof kommend, steht dieser mächtige Stadtturm seit 1386 am Eingang zur Innenstadt. Von hier ab, kann man schön die Stadtmauer entlang laufen, oder in den Handwerkerhof abbiegen.

Arriving and exiting from the train station the tower is the first historical thing you see and following the road leads you to the heart of Old town.

Башня была названа «Женской» в честь рядом находящегося женского монастыря Святой Клары. Эта круглая башня является воротами в направлении Регенсбурга. У подножия башни расположен «Двор мастеров».

When we exited the underground passage from the Hauptbahnhof, this was the first thing I saw. I was gobsmacked by the sheer size of the tower. It was quite large and beside the tower, there is the Handwerkerhof Nürnberg, a medieval shopping village.
The large tower gave a really nice first impression of the city. I'm not sure if you were able to head up but that would've been a nice adventure.

Na entrada da velha cidade no portão em frente a estação de trem está esta torre medieval onde abriga um centro de informações. Não há muito a ver, é simplesmente uma torre próxima ao muro que cerca a velha cidade. Não sei a razão do seu nome e há outras semelhantes.

Dès que l’on sort de la gare centrale, la Frauentorturm attire le regard, marquant de ses 40 m de hauteur l’entrée de la vieille ville. Construite de forme carrée avec les remparts du 14e siècle, elle protégeait autrefois l'entrée sud-est de la ville, un point vulnérable nécessitant une construction puissante. Suite notamment au siège subi en 1552, ses murs furent entourés d’un épais manteau de pierres et de gravats de manière à lui donner une forme arrondie, avec des murs jusqu’à 5 m d’épaisseur, lui offrant une meilleure protection contre les tirs d’artillerie ; elle fut aussi dotée d’une haute plateforme susceptible d’accueillir une batterie de canons. On notera aussi du côté de la ville la rangée verticale de 4 baies cintrées surmontée d’une petite fenêtre ronde.
Cette tour est aussi régulièrement appelée à tort Königstorturm du fait de sa proximité avec la porte de 1849 qui donnait accès à la Königstrasse, et qui fut démolie dès 1892 suite à l’élargissement de la route.
De l’autre côté de la rue, juste en face de la tour, se trouve l’office du tourisme.

It is one of the Tower's that was part of the cities fortification during the the medieval period. This tower set at the southeast city gate of Nuremberg - beside it you can see still part of the old fortifications. (in terms of historical dates I'm sure you can find plenty on the web.)
what is interesting that are only a few of the old towers standing today, this is 1 of those.
