The tour was so great, we got to see everything we wanted and more. Jan and Paul our guides were fantastic and true gentleman. The itinary is strong with a lot packed in. The individual castle and town tours were packed with information, the dinners were above and beyond. I can't say enough about how great this experience was. We are already looking into our next tour with Astrid.

Astrid organized our 2024 private tour in late August: arrived in Munich – 2 days in Nuremberg – 1 day in Dresden – 5 days in Prague – 2 days in Cesky Krumlov – departed from Munich. Jan was our private guide and chauffeur – he is from Prague, and introduced us to local culture, history, cuisine, and best vistas for pictures.
This was our 6th tour with Astrid – she is the best! Things you need to know when booking with her:
1. If you are taking a group tour – you do not need to worry about anything, just show up and enjoy the experience. The itinerary has been perfected, accommodations selected in the best locations with the best amenities, food will be local and gourmet, and you will learn about your destinations with guided tours.
2. If you are taking a private tour – you can start with one of the group tour itineraries and add/deduct from it. Or, you can send Astrid a list of things you would like to see, and she’ll arrange them in the most optimal sequence. Or, tell her your general interests, and she’ll recommend itinerary stops for you. Or, your private guide can customize your itinerary on the spot – e.g. we attended Slavia Praha soccer game in Prague, that was not on the original schedule – we were discussing soccer, Jan checked to see if tickets were still available, and so we re-arranged the itinerary and went!
3. Astrid usually books local unique accommodations in 3 or 4 star hotels. For example, we stayed at Hotel Caruso in Prague, Penck Hotel in Dresden, and Hotel Dvorak in Cesky Krumlov. We loved them! – but if you must have certain amenities – let her know upfront. For example, Hotel Dvorak was a historic building in an amazing location with a view of the castle, but did not have a mini-fridge or air-conditioning. For us, the view of the castle was a priority, and Astrid knew that. All hotels offered excellent breakfast in the morning (Breakfast was always included on all tours).
4. Our private tour was designed for us and included activities that we were interested in: guided tours highlighting WWII history in all destinations, inside castle tours, walking tours to introduce us to history and culture at each stop, cathedrals/churches/basilicas tours, climbing towers (e.g. St Vitus tower and Clementinum in Prague, Dresden Castle tower, Hloboka Castle tower), hiking in Bohemia Switzerland National Park and Lipno Tree-Top Walkway, walking thru man-made gardens (Pillnitz in Dresden, Koenigstein Fortress, Vysehrad in Prague, Cesky Krumlov castle park), glass factory tour in Nizbor, museums on natural history and culture (National Museum in Prague, Art Bunker in Nuremberg), Kbely aviation museum.
To summarize – we had an amazing, memorable, invigorating, educational, and overall outstanding trip. Thank you – Astrid!!

The value added is that you can plan in advance the day and time ensuring you have tickets and do not need to check the day you want to take the tour the availability of tickets. There is a guide (in my case it was a very good o e Steve) bit when you enter the castle you enter with the rest of the normal tours.

Franz was wonderful. Our drive to each attraction was smooth and we were provided with a wealth of knowledge and information about Bovaria and the ruling Kings. Franz made sure we did not miss a single point of interest at each destination. He made our day of touring perfect.

Steven was very knowledgeable about the castle, about Ludwig II, and about Bavarian history. He was also entertaining. The tour was fantastic and Steven made sure we got into the queue for the castle on time, the castle is extremely strict about entry times, all is done to the minute! The castle is very worth seeing, for the mountains around, for the art and architecture, and for getting to know the wonderfully extravagant Ludwig the second. And we learned lots about the great Wagner, the audio guide was so clear and full of detail. This tour was very worthwhile, and well worth the price.

Our guide Tomas was so kind! My adult children enjoyed all the information he provided. He is extremely knowledgeable of the area. He even took me to the town where my family in Germany was from. He stopped at every photo opportunity for us. I can't say enough good things about this tour. When on your own you won't experience those little things in a country you do not know as well as he does.

We could not have been more pleased with our tours! We booked two day tours from Munich and our guides were Sandro, Astrid and Barbara. All 3 were perfect and we’ve considered booking another trip specifically around touring with them.

Sandro was excellent and the trip was gorgeous! There was an issue with our car that broke down half way to Neuschwanstein, but he was quick to find a solution, calm, and very professional. Got us to our tour and had a backup guide there waiting. Barbara was amazing as well!!! When we finished out first castle tour, Sandro was back with a new car and nothing changed for us! Highly recommend!!! These guys are quick, professional, and so very nice!

Thank you - now I just hope the mentioning of the breakdown does not make future guests run, lol! I promise it does not happen often, and yes we are quick if needed.
It was nice spending time with you also and hope we meet again in the no too distant future! Thanks again, Astrid

This review is of the French Castles Tour that I was on in May 2023. What an excellent tour visiting so many sites in seven days. There were only seven of us on the tour and so transportation was in 2 vehicles, a minivan and an SUV. The drivers were very nice young men from Czech Republic whom were friendly and informative. What was nice was only two hotels during the tour, (plus the last night at a CDG airport hotel) so not packing up every day. The owner of the company, Astrid Baur, met us at the airport and had dinner with us the first night. Charming woman who really takes an interest in her guests and wants to ensure an enjoyable tour.
First two nights were in Paris, hotel was just fine, and we got to Versailles Palace, up the Eiffel Tower and a cruise on the Seine. Then it was off to the Loire Valley (with a stop first at Fontainebleu) where we spent four nights at the 15th century Chateau de Razay, a beautiful old Chateau converted to a B&B. This B&B did not have air conditioning and the bathroom only had a tub with nothing to prevent water from going all over the place, so something to be aware of. Good that was not very hot during our stay so no big deal on no AC. They did have picnic tables outside to relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a busy day touring. We ate two dinners at the Chateau de Razay and they were very good, including a wine tasting with a local sommelier.
We toured 8 or 9 different Chateaus during our stay in Loire Valley, and all were incredible in their own way. Adequate time was spent at each in my opinion, and plenty of time for lunch was given. Each one also included audio guides. This was the best part of the tour and so worthwhile to see these places and understand the history behind them.
The last full day was driving back to Paris and visiting the Louvre museum, which is always good to see. Then off to the airport where we spent the last night at Citizen M hotel right in the airport. Very nice hotel, fairly new, and convenient if you want to head back into Paris via the RER train.
Overall this was an excellent tour visiting so many incredible places, well organized, enjoyable and well worth the price. I will probably do another tour that this company offers in the future. Well done Astrid!

Hello, we do not "have tour" but can create one as a private tour. Please let me know exactly which date, how many days and what should be included( hotels and meals as well as sightseeing?).
Rothenburg, Romantic Road, Castles and back to Munich cannot be done in one day. Thank you and sorry I do not speak portuguese.

I’ll be in Barcelona July 11 through August 10, with a trip July 16-23 to Portugal. We are staying in Lisbon then Porto. I’d like to do some medieval castle tours for a few days if possible leaving from Barcelona or possibly day trips while in Portugal. Any suggestions?

Buongiorno,

Hi I will be travelling by myself to Munich in January and very interested in the zugspitze tour you offer
Am I still able to book a place on the tour even though I'm by myself?
เขียนเมื่อ 13 ตุลาคม 2015
Hi Nathan Z - we only offer this tour from Munich as a private tour and the price per person becomes less the bigger the group is - this is why we do not offer it for one person.
To be able to join private tour the other party would have to be willing to join and would have to go at your preferred date - a situation that is unlikely to happen. So best would be to look for others to join you directly - or book a tour with big tour operators like greyline that organize large buses.....
