Great exhibits, lot of waiting, QR code for bathrooms(?!)

You’ll have a much better time here if you either don’t care about the interactive exhibitions at all, or if you don’t mind waiting a fair amount of time for them. Personally, I found a lot of the non-interactive exhibitions really worthwhile and enjoyed myself a lot. I have a high tolerance for “just reading stuff!” when that stuff is interesting! There are profiles of different figures in espionage (including specific areas on double agents, women in espionage, LGBTQ+ people in espionage, etc); timelines of the development of espionage; different types of technology (including the use of animals!) and even things like conspiracy theories, spies in the media, and surveillance in the 21st century.

I did wait for a couple of the interactive activities. Some - like the laser beam obstacle course and the lie detector test - were more organised, but for some it felt a little chaotic and I wasn’t sure if I was queuing “properly”. No one wants to hover around for 20 minutes and still feel like they’re skipping in front of a seven year old! I think having more staff members on the floor, especially around the popular exhibits, would really help.

The final complaint I have is that you had to use the QR code from your ticket to get into AND out of the bathrooms! Talk about surveillance! When I tried to exit the machine kept telling me my ticket had already been scanned (…yes! to get inside!) and wouldn’t let me through, so I had to awkwardly jump the turnstile in front of a 4-year-old German boy and his mum. I don’t think I’d make a very good secret agent.

As a history teacher, I was super fascinated by the exhibits in this museum. I find spies super interesting so I was very excited to come here! It is a fun and interactive museum that everyone should go to while visiting Berlin.

Interesting and informative

I was not sure what to expect when we went to this exhibition, however it was interesting.

The exhibition is mostly reading about espionage through the years, but it certainly was intriguing.

I had little staff interactions so I cannot comment on them, however it was a good use of a couple of hours.

Tolles interessantes interaktives Museum. Bei manchen Sachen mussten wir auch schonmal eine halbe Stunde anstehen, hat dich aber gelohnt. Macht wirklich Spaß. Am besten ist der Laserparcours

Receptionist just charges what she likes for entry

Found this to be such a waste of money. There were too many people in the museum to actually make use of the interactive sections and the majority of it was just reading and reading like a school trip.
There is a sign outside to say that ticket prices can fluctuate depending on demand and busy times but we weren't expecting a 37 euro charge after a 25% reduction due to having a Berlin Welcome Card. This is more than any of the tickets online and I suspect they just charge what they want really.

Very interesting exhibits, well done. The hands on portion is very good. Also nice that the entrance is metered so the museum does not get too crazy crowded. In all a very worthwhile experience

Fun afternoon activity!

This museum was informative and fun! There was a good mix of informational and hands on activities. We especially loved decoding and encoding messages, the lie detector and the intelligence tests. The laser maze was closed when we went for kids birthday parties but I’m sure it’s fun as well! If you have an extra 3 hours definitely check this place out!

Het museum geeft veel informatie over het spionage-verleden. Er is veel te lezen, maar gelukkig ook te bekijken en te doen. Door het doseren van het aantal bezoekers kan je overal goed bij. Aanrader dus, ook met kinderen. Wat mij betreft vanaf een jaar of 10-12.
