By all means cross the Main to see the Sachsenhausen neighborhood. Here you will find lots of local culture, not many tourists, and the apple wine center of Frankfurt. There are many great pubs and bars - just go with a sense of humor. The streets are confusing and can take you in circles. Further, many of those great pubs run on reservations, so if you don't have one and there is a big football game, you likely won't get in.

Gute Gegend um zu Wohnen (Hotel Leonardo) sehr gute Verkehrsanbindung Bus / S Bahn bestens und sehr kurze Takte. Ausgehviertel, viele große UJnternehmen (Binding u.a.) gutes stadtnah gelegenes Wohngebiet. Von der höheren Darmstädter Strasse schöne Sicht auf die Skyline. Viele gute Restaurants und kleine Läden

The Sachsenhausen neighborhood of Frankfurt is a historical, cultural and modern neighborhood. An array of old winding cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and lively bars and restaurants line the narrow pathways of this beloved area of the city. The vibrant past of Sachsenhausen is highlighted by an abundance of unique and historical sites, as well as a diverse population of locals and tourists.

The area dates back to the 10th century, with much of the architecture reflecting changes in both the times and the society at the time. The old stone churches, many of which are still in use, are the most prominent of these buildings. The St. Catharine Church and the Maria Church serve as a reminder of the strong religious history of the area, as well as its role as a vibrant center for political, cultural and commercial activities.

The neighborhood is perhaps most famous for its Altstadt (old town). This bustling area of the city is filled with many historical pubs and beer halls, as well as hotels, restaurants and stores of all kinds. Along with the colorful street markets found here, visitors can find a variety of cafes and specialty shops, providing a testament to the city’s thriving economy and the entrepreneurial spirit of its citizens.

Another major attraction of Sachsenhausen is the Schloss Johannisburg. Built around 1600, the castle is a beautiful example of baroque architecture and its grounds are home to lovely gardens and an ornate fountain. The building is today a museum and features a wealth of cultural artifacts and collections. The larger park surrounding the castle is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and experience some tranquility.

The Sachsenhausen neighborhood of Frankfurt is undoubtedly a unique and charismatic part of the city. There is no shortage of things to do and see in this area, from historical root beer cafes to more modern nightlife options. Whether one wants to take a leisurely stroll down old cobbled alleys, or explore the old churches, there is always something intriguing around every corner. Though different from some of the other, more bustling areas of the city, Sachsenhausen is a vibrant and rewarding destination in its own right.

Visit in the evening

When I researched this district it said it was a fabulous place to visit. Unfortunately I didn’t realise it meant in the evening as I went during the day. There’s nothing to see then but it supposedly transforms in the evening where the party people come out to play. However, the lovely cobbled streets of Rittergasse, Paradiesgasse and Klappergasse along with wall to wall of different bars, it was easy to envisage it rocking at night

The best part of Frankfurt

Ok, I admit that I am biased since we used to live there, but Sachsenhausen really has everything. A classy art-cinema, lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and museums, great hotels for every budget and of course the cider. History too: just walk the streets and prepare to be enchanted.

Interesting walk bit a bit overrated!

It is a nice neighbourhood with interesting tone. Was good to walk around but there wasn't as much to see as it might imply by its very high rate

A thought provoking and worthwhile experience
Visited Sachenhausen Memorial during a short visit to Berlin. This is a very large site with lots of information. I would recommend the audio guide and arriving early to avoid the crowds. A very thought provoking and expensive and one I will not forget. It is an easy 20-30 minute walk from the train station and is well signposted if you don’t want to wait for the bus.

Per quanto avevo letto, mi aspettavo un po' di più da un quartiere che sembrava dovesse essere un'alternativa alla Frankfurt "dell'alta finanza", ma in realtà mi è apparso un quartiere come tanti. Forse mi sono perso qualcosa.
