One of the many sites built by the Romans that is still accessible though it has been used and abuse for the last 2,000 years. It is free to enter. The tour is self-paced along a steel frame walkway that splits through the site at a diagonal and includes signage in German and English and interactive signage for the kids. There’s no shade except at the abbey at the entrance but it is barely a city block to walk. It is wheelchair accessible. There is an active dig on the site you can watch this in progress. Walking to this site from the city center is about 1 kilometer but on level ground and tree-lined streets. The Roman Bridge and park along the river is directly nearby so it is worth the extra steps. Because is it outside the old city center, there are not as many tourists.

Het zijn een hoop stenen, maar gelukkig hebben de archeologen dit voor ons allemaal duidelijk uitgelegd op infoborden. Het moet er indrukwekkend uitgezien hebben. Die Romeinen waren hun tijd toch wel erg vooruit met al hun bouwkunsten. Uitleg is voorzien in het Nederlands.
Er is maar een klein gedeelte vrij, een groot deel van deze thermen ligt nog onder de grond.

It is a little difficult to visualise the splendour of these baths, before they were mostly destroyed and repurposed in the Middle Ages. The baths themselves cannot be entered, but you can go over a walkway which leads over the baths and which has informative posters showing what was once there.

Diese Ausgrabungsstätten sind super. Man kann sich leicht vorstellen wie riesig die Therme sein musste, was die doch die zweitgrößte im Römischen Reich! Absolut sehenswert!

If you are into Roman History you have to see the "Barbara Thermal Baths" when inTrier. Unexpectedly, these are indeed the second largest Roman Thermal Baths of their time, the largest being in Italy. Very impressive, good written guides throughout the sites.

I thoroughly enjoyed viewing this structure which is an archaeological work in progress. Good explanation signage.
We were unsure where to start. We started at the right side which was wrong direction and would have made more sense to start from left side when viewing this structure.

Sehr schön hergerichtet. Man kann über einen Steg über die Thermenreste gehen und an 9 Stationen wird die Architektur, das Leben, also der Badebetrieb der alten Römer erklärt. Die Anlage ist an schönen Tagen nicht so überlaufen wie die Kaiserthermen oder andere Römerbauten.

Purtroppo non si è conservato molto dell'edificio originale, ma lungo la passarella sopraelevata (che attraversa il sito) sono posti degli ottimi pannelli esplicativi, che aiutano a farsi un'idea di come dovevano apparire le terme nel loro splendore. Diciamo che l'impianto valorizza tantissimo i pochi resti che sono sopravvissuti.
L'ingresso è gratuito, quindi perché no?

Man kann diese antike Therme gigantischen Ausmaßes kostenlos besichtigen. Allerdings kann man leider fast nichts mehr sehen, da nicht mehr viel erhalten ist. Ich würde es mir nur anschauen, wenn ich alle Highlights von Trier bereits gesehen habe.
