This road is closed, definitively. Do not take.

Don't take this road marked CA-221 on Google Maps (but marked locally as 7200, Cadiz district). The road deteriorates to rocks ( gravel would be a compliment). It's very rough and you run a risk of a flat tire or broken suspension.

The road is closed with a gate near the dammed lake and is marked in Spanish "for authorized users only". You won't get through.

It looks like a short cut from the E5 to the A-381, but it is not.

worth your sore bottom

Some of the best potholes in Andalucia, for sure. Very poor quality tarmac finished soon after Facinas. Gravel road wasn't bad at first but soon changed into an assault course. Quite deep holes appear in clusters presumably where the water doesn't drain easily from the road. Our Ford Estate1.6 flew off into the air more than couple of times giving us fits of laughter. Sense of humour definitely helped.4x4 would have been better, but managed all right without it. Your reward is some of the best views in Andalucia, the mountains, the coast(sunset!!) the old cork tree forest, the wild flowers(April)probably rich animal life and excellent walking for those with time at hand and stamina.
