Beautiful plaza c 16th century ~ Town Hall and Church of San Juan Dios are located on this square. In the center of the square is a beautifully designed grand bronze monument in honor of Segismundo Moret, a Spanish politician and writer. Mr. Moret was recognized as the "favorite son"of the City of Cadiz.

Lovely square within about a 15 minute walk from main harbor of cruise ships. In the middle of the town with lots of narrow alleys to discover. Except for the restaurants and bars, most shops are closed in the afternoon until 5 or 5:30, so not much to do other than enjoy the views.

Saturday 14th May and we were sightseeing and exploring in the wonderful city of Cadiz.
We had just been to visit the beautiful old Church of San Juan de Dios, which is located in this Plaza, and we decided to to walkabout and see the rest of the Plaza.
As well as the Church there are a number of notable and eye-catching buildings that frame the Plaza which include the City Hall of Cadiz and Casa de Los Pazos Miranda.
One of features that dominate the Square is massive Statue and fountain in the centre. It pays hommage to a Spanish politician Segismundo Moret, who was born in Cadiz in 1833. He was Prime Minister of Spain on three separate occasions.
When we were here there was an artisan market with tented stalls, dotted about the Square. They were selling arts and crafts, jewellery and more.
Keep an eye out for the decorative stone mosaics that form part of the pavement of the Plaza.
Along the palm tree lined Plaza there a number of ground level fountains, with loads of water jets gently squirting water skywards
There are a number of decorative and ornate streetlamps about the place. There are also benches, were visitors can sit and relax enjoying the beautiful Plaza.

Came to this square at 11am. Was packed! Never seen so many people. Came back to it at 4pms Near empty. Lovely square leading into the old town streets. A great base to start and finish if at the port.

Sosta a Cadice nel tour andaluso e devo dire che è la città che ci è rimasta più in presso, bella, tipica, lungo oceano, veramente bella sia il lungo mare, piazza, chiese, locali dove mangiare fritto, io la consiglio.

La place majeure de Cadix avec l’hotel de ville au fond, le port de l’autre côté et de la verdure. C’est le point de départ des circuits de découverte de la ville. Il y a d’autres places plus petites et plus charmantes.
