On a recent trip to Kashmir, we engaged services of a Delhi based travel agent, M/s. Horizon Travel Services. We had wonderful experience and the travel arrangements were perfect. The arrangements for our pick up from the Srinagar airport and internal travels were tailor made for us and we faced no inconvenience while traveling.

This travel agency took help of a local tour operator from Srinagar, e.g. D2 Holidays Tours and Travels. Their services were also perfect. And they gave us one of the best person as our driver for our journey.

This review would be incomplete without reference to Ayub (Mob no. 9622600370), who assiduously drove us around during our entire trip. One feels safe while he is at the wheel. Very careful and efficient driver.

Most importantly we found in Ayub a a very willing and helpful guide. Punctual and efficient, showed all the places with smile on his face. His attitude to work is perfect.

We would certainly avail his services, whenever in Srinagar again. We were lucky to have him around during our this trip.

This tour was terrific!
Amazing even!
Our guide, cannot remember her name now, shared personal stories of baptizing her shield here by the Pope so it added a fun personal touch. She was very charming and sweet.
As for her historical knowledge and art history, she also didn’t miss.
This was a fun and overwhelming tour that was broken down into small bites with historical stories that helped put everything into perspective.

I cannot express how well this company treated us and made us feel welcomed in their city.
I highly recommend Eternal Travel.

On a side note, we tipped all of our guides. They won’t ask for it. But because of the passion and hard work they put into each tour, I felt it was well deserved.

Bravo!

This encounter really ruined our visit, we trusted RTS, but in the end, it was a trap. Huge money - they did not care. Trapped like a a fly in a web. AVOID THESE PEOPLE in all their form... the original people on the street, surely had not washed for days. Should have taken this as a sign.
Thanks but no thanks.

Tierratour of Leon , Nicaragua, proved to be a huge help to us on our recent holiday. I would say to go no further than this excellent agency who organised us with a superb guide to tour the city. His knowledge and passion for his subject was notable. However, the Tierratour manager, David Larios was a huge bonus, who spoke such perfect English and filled us with confidence that everything he did for us would be successful . He sorted out flight tickets to the Corn Islands in no time and without his help, I expect that there would have been some hassle. Highly recommended !

We were approached by several Indians (asian / eastern) near the Vatican walls offering us a tour of the museum. They were as insistent as they were unkempt. Finally we relented and learned that our host was to be 'RTS', Roman Travel Services, also known as Eternal Travel, Eternal Travel Agency, and 'Delectours' - having googled the information on the brochure we still have. It took AN AGE to organize headsets and a guide, so by the time we reached the museums we'd already had enough. The tour was no better, the guide was impatient and disinterested. The owner, 'James Mcniff', who we did not meet, needs to clean up his act because his 'agency' is a tragedy in waiting for people who meet his staff on the street.

We were approached by RTS outside the Basilica and thought the chance to skip the lines for the Basicila and the Vatican Museum, together with a guided tour of the best bits of the museum sounded like a fantastic way to maximise time during our trip to Rome.

Having asked how long it would take to sort out tickets etc before going to the Museum we were assured that it would only a few minutes and would be done asap - unfortunately as more and more people were bought to the offices to join our group the amount of time we spent waiting got longer and longer.

On a positive note our guide was very knowledgeable about the subject area and certainly informed us about the Sistine chapel and many of the artefacts in the museum. Sadly though the group was very large - circa 45 - which made keeping the group together near impossible due to the number of visitors to the Museum. In fact we lost our guide (and any signal from his voiceover that could guide us back to him) nearing the approach to the Sistine chapel and had to rush through the Raphael Rooms to find him before the group left the Museum. Unlike other tours, our guide hadn't been provided with any 'stick' that he could hold up in the air so that we could easily idenitfy him in a crowd.

One of the main reasons we chose the tour was that it allowed us access directly through to the Basilica without the need for us to queue again - unfortunately, once we had found the group again, we were turned away at the entrance to this shortcut because "we hadnt paid the requisite fee" of 10 euros per person. Our guide therefore led us out of the Museum and expected us to join the lengthy Basilica queue that we had paid to skip. On the way back to St Peter's Square he called the Agency and decribed the tour as a "[--] disaster".

At signs of mutiny from the entire tour group I had called the Agency before we even left the Museum and spoke to James - who in his own words described the situation as "a nightmare" - and he agreed to send someone to St Peters Square to sort the mess out. He tried to xcplain that we were only refused entry through the shortcut because the Basilica was very busy - I am almost certain this is not true as the Basilica (once we got in there) was certainy not so busy that one tour group of less than 20 people (as we had again lost half of our group) would be refused entry, our own tour guide and the guards manning the exit we should have been able to use confirmed that it was because the necessary fee had not been paid and other groups went through the exit directly after our refusal.

After some more wasted time we were told that they had arranged to get us into the Basilica. My Mum asked if they were using a 'legitimate' way to get us in and was assured that they were. However, what they actually arranged was to frog-march us to the front of the queue of people who had been waiting for a long time and then push us into the line and then leave us half-way to fight our way to the security check points through many angry visitors shouting at us and in one instance even kicking us. At the top of the line we saw a legitimate group bypassing the queue through a side gate.

While the tour guide was very knowledgeable, the whole tour was a very stressful event and we were ultimately didnt get what we paid for - quick entry into St Peter's Basilica. The way the agency then "organised" to get us into the Basilica was the icing on an already horrendous cake - no tourist should be subjected to verbal and physical abuse from other visitors in order to get the benefits of a tour that they have paid for.

At no point during this debacle did anyone offer us any money back and we ultimatly could not be bothered to waste anymore of our holiday with RTS in trying to get back any part of the 80 Euros we had paid.

My advice - steer clear of this tour and use one of the many other providers.

As a person who has travelled solo around many countries, I have never had the inclination to take formal tours of a city's highlights, preferring to do things at my own pace. However, the queue for the Vatican museum in the summer heat put this resolve to the test and, when I was approached by a polite woman offering the vatican tour services of RTS, I relented and accompanied her to an office just around the corner from the Vatican entrance.

Here I was introduced to the guide, Tom, who was extremely friendly and visibly passionate about art and architecture. I was also provided with a headset upon arrival which was extremely useful as it meant that I didn't have to strain to hear inside the incredibly busy museum. There were only 15 others on the tour which was a lot smaller than other groups I could see around and meant that Tom could pay us individual attention.

Once inside the museum, Tom struck the correct balance between informative and entertaining and I found myself enthralled in the history of the Vatican rather than caught up in the throng of tourists eager to see the Sistine Chapel. Also because we had skipped the long line outside I still had lots of energy to take everything in. The Sistine Chapel really is the highlight of the tour and, thankfully, all the paintings had been explained beforehand so I knew exactly what I was looking at inside.

This was a delightful experience from start to finish which made my first visit to the Vatican special and the highlight of my holiday in Italy. There were a plethora of travel agencies offering tours of the Vatican but, for me, RTS really goes the extra mile to stand out from the crowd.

I had an awful experience last week with Eternal Travel Agency (a/k/a RTS). After being persuaded that they it made more sense for us to use their service than to stick to our reservation at the Vatican Museum, we waited for over an hour whilst RTS promoters hauled in more and more people to join their "tour" (really just a way for them to get paid to help you skip the line). Contrary to the statement in their marketing materials (including their website) that they limit their group to a maximum of 12 people, they finally stopped gathering people once they hit 32. In the already overly-crowded Vatican Museum, it is impossible to give a decent tour to so many people. When the "tour" was over, I was fortunate enough to run into RTS owner James McNiff in a watering hole around the corner from their office. After attempting to offer him some constructive criticism, I was told by he and one of his drinking buddies that "we don't know what you do in America, but over here its rude to interrupt..." The good news is that St. Peter's Square is swarming with other agencies desperate to take your money, so you have alternative choices.

In response to the review from R.J.Reilly, I would like to clarify a few points, as the events occurred differently from how he related them. Firstly, and very importantly, our tours are not just a way to skip the line. The vast majority of our clients take guided tours and have a very illuminating, entertaining and informative walk around the museums, with guides who love their work and share our enthusiasm for "the most beautiful office in the world". This will be borne out by the reviews which will follow, as we have only been online for a very limited time. Occasionally we have customers who only want to jump the queue. This is entirely understandable as nothing saps the will to see Rome faster than unrelenting sun. Sometimes the queue stretches from the museum all the way to St.Peter's Square, a wait of at least three hours. For a modest fee we offer a service that allows them to do this, and until now, we have never had a complaint. Our marketing material does not state that we limit our group size to twelve. Only Private Tours and our VIP Early tour (8:00am) of the Museum are limited as the clients pay more for this service. We would simply not be able function if we limited all our groups to twelve, and charged our competitive rates. It is simply not true that one can't give a 'decent tour' with so many people in the museum. With six million visitors a year to the Vatican museums, it is only natural that this magnificent Chapel and Museum are shared by everyone who wants to see the superlative art housed inside. The method that all tour companies use are headsets. All of our groups with more that ten people are invited to use these, and they allow for a clear, lucid tour, no matter how many customers we have. The gentleman who wrote this review never got the chance to appreciate/validate our tour. His friends decided (after getting fitted up with the audio guides) that they could not wait, even though we were only issuing tickets to the remaining fellow customers. This was a misunderstanding on their behalf, as they had bought their own Vouchers for admission to the Museums, and they thought that if they didn't enter at the time on the sheet, they would forfeit their entry. This is not the case, but they weren't aware of this, and never asked us. We immediately gave the group a full refund. Their worry turned to anger when they realised that by the time we had waited for one of their number to return from the restroom with our headsets, the guide and her group had already departed on the tour. If they had waited one minute longer, the whole situation would have been avoided. They then left feeling dissatisfied and somewhat foolish, as the rest of the group were inside the museum on their tour while they were no closer to starting their visit. So, they went looking for another tour company, who furnished them with my name and whereabouts. When Mr. Reilly found me, I was not drinking at a 'waterhole' as written. We have a strict policy of no alcohol consumption during office hours. I was having lunch with an old friend from out of town. When Mr.Reilly started to berate me from across the restaurant, my friend, a middle-aged Englishman said that in Europe it was not considered polite to interrupt people. This was entirely reasonable, unlike the gentleman's behaviour. Angered, Mr.Reilly came back to our offices saying "I hear that the way to ruin people around here is to use Trip Advisor". All in all it was a very unfortunate incident which occurred, as they do occasionally in this industry, and which we work tirelessly to rectify. If Mr. Reilly is ever back in Rome, we would be very happy to take him on the tour of the Vatican Museums that he cancelled. We are very confident that he will see, like the rest of our clients, that we are far more than just a company which helps clients skip the line. Eternal is a serious tour operator, giving culturally stimulating trips around the many beautiful sites of Rome and further afield. CEO James Mcniff
