Best way to tour Italy

This was the first time we ever did a tour group. It was so planned out, but with enough time on your own to wander and relax. Elizabeth's attention to detail was appreciated. We never wanted for anything especially food and wine! You get to experience Italy from a local and are introduced to things being a tourist you might not otherwise see. Highly recommend and hope to do another!

You think you know Italian food

I ate strawberries and ricotta for breakfast this morning. I would never had thought of this combination were it not for my recent tour in Sicily with Elizabeth Minchilli. The ricotta was not nearly as good as the heavenly fresh ricotta we ate on a Bio Farm, but is a clue to how this trip changed my view of eating in Italy. I’m seeking out olive oils from purveyors Elizabeth told us about. I bought mortadella- we’ll see how that compares to the one made especially for a vineyard we visited. I’ve bought guanciale for Pasta Carbonara, which I’ll make following Elizabeth’s
Video. Oh, and the trip was flawless. I wanted to stay in my hotel room looking at out at the sea forever. Our group was so congenial. We laughed a lot. And since we were a group of 9, everyone got to know each other.
I’m now thinking about one of her trips in Umbria. I promise you whatever trip you choose will exceed your expectations.

Do as the Italians!

There is no better way to experience Italy, than with an Italian or Elizabeth! Elizabeth is actually American by birth but you would think she was born in Italy. She knows her way around all parts of Italy and food is her thing which she is very willing to share!
As they say when in Rome do as the Romans, and if Elizabeth says to try or go to...You can't go wrong! We had a fantastic Easter week with her in Sicily and we are still dreaming about the different experiences and great guides.

Sophie's Trastevere Food Tour

This is such a great tour! Sophie’s deep knowledge of Rome allows you to see (and taste) much more of Rome than the typical tourist. Our tour mostly took place in Trastevere, famed for its nightlife but equally (if not more) charming during the day. Everything we ate was fantastic, but the best part was observing Sophie’s interactions with the locals. You get a real feel for daily life in a traditional Roman neighborhood. The tour would be an especially good complement to a Rome trip that’s packed mostly with site-seeing in the historic center. Highly recommend!

What a delightful week in Rome with Elizabeth, and Sophie! Everything was stellar--from the food and instant comaraderie with my fellow travelers, to Elizabeth's easy going personality and ability to connect us deeply with her "world" in Rome. Thank you! I look forward to joining Elizabeth and Sophie in the future on more of their adventures around Italy!

I just finished a week long tour in Puglia with Elizabeth and her daughter Sophie. This is my third time with them. To my amazement, it always surpasses my expectations. If you want to eat the BEST food, drink the BEST wine, visit the BEST places (many out of the way), book a tour with Elizabeth. We managed to pack so many experiences into the week, yet the pace was easy, with free time to spare. I will absolutely do another tour with Elizabeth in the future. There’s no other way to visit Italy.

Fabulous food and fun in Umbria

My daughter and I spent the week with Elizabeth and Sophie who were our amazing tour guides. We were taken to wonderful cities around Umbria. We sampled the food, drank the wine and experienced the hospitality of the small towns. We were able to sample the local produce when Elizabeth graciously invited us to her beautiful home. The tour was well organized. We always knew what the plan for the day would be. They allowed us time for us to explore on our own. I highly recommend taking a tour with Elizabeth.

Amazing Puglia Italy Week!

I just returned from an amazing week planned and hosted by Elizabeth and Sophie along with an amazing group of women from all around. We spent time at the beautiful and peaceful Masseria Potenti in Manduria. Amazing food with beautiful people inside and out. We also spent time in Altimura where we tasted some of the best bread and cheese I have tasted. Perfecto! We ended our week in Matera. This town is truly an experience filled with rich history, not to mention great food. Elizabeth made this week so enjoyable and she really knows how to select dining choices and menus. There was not one meal I didn’t absolutely love. There were a lot of activities but we also had some downtime to ourselves. Elizabeth is so welcoming, kind and a complete joy to be around. I already miss our time together. Please, if you plan to visit Italy, look Elizabeth up and join one of her tours. You will love it!! We all did.

Terrific Week in Umbria!

Elizabeth, Sophie (her daughter) and Evan Kleinman are to be congratulated on providing us with a memorable week in Umbria. Our week was filled with lots of eating regional and seasonal specialties, and visits to a wine producer, olive oil producer, truffle cultivator and ceramics manufacturers - all with exceptionally passionate and informative guides. Thanks to extensive research and selection by Elizabeth and Sophie, we were getting the cream of Italian artisanal production, and it was a treat. The organisation was admirably smooth and well-paced, with down time daily for a bit of personal exploring or rest. The whole trip was good fun. I highly recommend!

Week in Umbria

I recently took Elizabeth's week-long tour in Umbria, which she co-led with Evan Kleiman and her daughter Sophie—and it was truly an unforgettable experience. It's so hard to capture the essence of this trip in an online review.

Elizabeth has built tremendous goodwill with the people and local producers of Umbria. That was immediately evident by the level of access we received on our trip—from the truffle hunting and visit to the olive grove, to the winery trip and tasting. The food was incredible, and we enjoyed some of the best wines in the world at every meal. Throughout our week in Umbria, we had the pleasure of joining Elizabeth for dinner and cooking lessons at her beautiful villa. She is a gracious and welcoming host, and we felt right at ease in her home.

Overall, the tour was very well-organized (we never had to worry about where to be or what to eat)—all we had to do was show up. And the pace of the tour was great, with plenty of time for an afternoon nap or to explore on your own. I can't recommend this trip enough!
