Budynek znajdujący się trochę na uboczu centrum Rzymu, co tylko powoduje że można go traktować jako ukrytą perełkę. Znaleziony przez nas zupełnym przypadkiem. Na pierwszy rzut oka wygląda jak połączenie Koloseum i kamienicy.

Es muy interesante de ver, se conserva muy bien y es, de hecho, más antiguo que el conocido Coliseo y más pequeño pero su estructura sirvió como modelo para éste.
En su momento fue el teatro más grande y más importante de la antigua Roma y hoy en día se ofrecen eventos, sobre todo conciertos en verano, y en la planta más alta hay apartamentos.

È ubicato nei pressi del ghetto ebraico ed ha la forma di un piccolo Colosseo.
Fu fatto edificare dall'imperatore Augusto e prende il nome Marcello da un suo nipote morto prematuramente.
L'architettura è molto suggestiva e cattura lo sguardo a lungo.

I attended Il Tempietto here on the 15th of August.The musicians were very good and made it a very special birthday for me. There was a short tour outside the theatre to explain its origins.Worth visiting and at night , it is just magical.

Vicino il ghetto ebraico, io e la mia famiglia ci siamo trovati davanti ad un monumento di epoca romana di bellezza paragonabile ad un piccolo Colosseo. Fatto costruire dall'imperatore Augusto intitolato al nipote Claudio Marcello morto prematuramente.

A construção deste edifício foi concluída em 12 a.c. e foi inaugurado pelo imperador Augusto (63 a.c.-14).
Era o maior teatro do império romano, até à construção do Coliseu, e tinha uma lotação máxima de vinte mil lugares.
Parece um mini coliseu, mas nos dias de hoje só uma pequena parte é que dá a ideia de ter sido um edifício em forma circular, o restante são construções posteriores.

The theatre is located along the street from the steps of the Musei Capitoloni. In fact you can see the theatre if you look towards the left hand side of the steps towards the bottom.
The site is free to visit from the outside and is often bypassed by tourists.

This area is less popular than the Forum and Colosseum but is very close by. There are signs in the area explaining what each feature is or the historical significance and many have been excavated in the last century it seems. The theatre can be visited during the day but we enjoyed our nighttime view. It is kind of funny that people live here with apartments built in and on top!

Aunque no pudimos ver el interior, que entendemos que no queda nada, la parte exterior, con una apariencia que recuerda al Coliseo, aunque más pequeño, con su piedra de travertino, conserva un aire similar a este. Pudimos pasear por el alrededor y ver algunos restos al lado así como un par de columnas levantadas de nuevo, que nos dan una leve idea de cómo era la zona en la época qu ese construyó allá por el siglo II.

How often are the classical music concerts (Concerti del Tempietto)?
From what I’ve read, they are mainly summer concerts. Seems like this is the concert website: tempietto . it
But it only has the schedule through May currently and it seems like concerts mainly happen on the last Sunday of each month with a few exceptions.
I’m planning to visit in early October—anyone know if I can expect a concert then?

From my recent visit, I suspect this would be a Summer Programme but suggest you contact the Italian Tourist Office for confirmation so that you can plan accordingly.

I found it on my own and I thought it unusual that it wasn’t very popular. I really don’t know if it’s on a bus tour route, but I think it’s only open to the public once per year. Good luck!

I understand that concerts are held there during summer.
As the concerts are held outdoors can anyone point me to their wet weather policy? I can’t find it on their website.

The wet weather policy is not clear nor is any alternative venue during wet weather.
We happened to have tickets the night a thunder storm rolled in. The gates were locked and no alternative venue suggested.
When I questioned the organisers I was told the event went ahead, yet on the night If the concert I have photos of the locked gate and the venue was silent. So clearly it was held at another venue but this was not clear at all on the night of the concert. Which happened to be a (somewhat unfulfilled) birthday gift.
