" I Farnese " e la mascherina fortemente raccomandata, ma non obbligatoria. Fate attenzione , se sprovvisti come il sottoscritto, potreste incappare all'uscita della Biblioteca Palatina in una zelante custode del museo che vi aggredisce, sono blando, a colpi di dubbia gentilezza . Tutto ciò di fronte ad un nitido cartello che esplicitamente raccomandava la mascherina, non obbligava ad indossarla. Stessa cosa mi era stata detta in biglietteria. La gentile signora in un batter di ciglia si impossessava del cartello facendone carta straccia. Il gesto includeva tutti coloro che avevano voluto il cartello e me malcapitato che avevo pagato il biglietto. Dopo avere definito incompetente la signora ed inutilmente cercato un responsabile a cui riferire l'accaduto ho girato i tacchi e me ne sono andato. Peccato , dopo tanta bellezza l' inadeguatezza di qualcuno mi ha rovinato la visita. Buongiorno.

Il biglietto da 16€ … ne vale la pena! Si può vedere la mostra, il teatro Farnese, la biblioteca etc!
Ambienti curati, puliti, nulla è lasciato al caso. Esperienza consigliatissima!

Il Palazzo della Pilotta, storia a parte, non ha nulla di eccezionale nonché esser grande.
Un po' più suggestivo di notte.
I musei.
Volevamo visitare il teatro Farnese, unica cosa che a priori mi interessava, ma non si vendono biglietti singoli, solo il complesso museale, così abbiamo desistito.
Mi rimane il dubbio se abbiamo fatto bene…..però avevo già letto parecchie critiche.

Grazie al biglietto combinato abbiamo visitato il teatro e l'esposizione "i Farnese, Architettura, arte e potere", tutte cose bellissime che non sono incluse nel biglietto del complesso monumentale, quest'ultimo visitabile davvero in pochissimo tempo. Per questo consiglio vivamente di prendere il biglietto combinato.
Abbiamo impiegato circa un'ora e mezza per vedere tutto ed è stato tutto molto bello, l'unica pecca: la gestione.
Appena arrivati all'ingresso ci è stato comunicato che dovevamo per forza pagare in contanti e che casualmente anche la stampante era rotta e potevano stampare solo biglietti gratuiti. Peccato che i biglietti bianchi, stampati poi con la scritta "gratuito", fossero proprio davanti a noi. Inoltre durante la visita ci è stato chiesto ripetutamente di mostrare i biglietti, quasi in ogni sala.

Non è possibile non scindere il contenitore (la Pilotta), il contenuto e l'esperienza della visita. Il complesso monumentale è grandioso e lo sforzo per ricavarne qualcosa di funzionale è stato notevole: non è bello, ma vale la pena vederlo. Ciò che contiene è necessariamente non organico, ma pregevole. Anche molto, a seconda dei gusti personali.
Quanto all'esperienza della visita e che sia o meno raccomandabile, occorre tener conto che si incontra un'istituzione assurda (questo il giudizio negativo): Occorrerebbe una gestione manageriale: un sabato 16 aprile mattina ci si poteva aspettare una frequentazione eccezionale. Far accumulare le file dei visitatori senza chiarezza, senza dar l'impressione di affrontare il problema, usando le regole di tutti i giorni e non di un evento largamente pubblicizzato, dimostra una impreparazione inaccettabile. Dare inizio agli ingressi piuttosto alle 10.05 che alle 9.55 dimostra una mentalità "padronale": decido io, che detengo i diritti al been culturale e che "concedo" secondo le mie esigenze.
Soprattutto una mentalità "vecchia" per cui ti si "concede" la visita e devi contentarti di quello che ti viene consentito. Un complesso di quelle dimensioni che non ha previsto e realizzato un posto-sosta, in cui sedersi, riposare, prendere un caffè. Né viene offerto un punto di ristoro, un bar adeguatamente fornito oppure un luogo dove gustare con tranquillità le eccezionalità gastronomiche della città. Al limite si poteva prevedere un biglietto giornaliero che consentisse un'uscita, una sosta, per poi rientrare e riaffrontare una cultura che, evidentemente, deve costare fatica e negare piacere.

Siamo stati alla Pillotta per visitare il complesso monumentale. Biglietto a 8 euro ma appena salite le scale SORPRESA! Il biglietto comprende esclusivamente la galleria nazionale, sono esclusi il Teatro Farnese, la biblioteca e tutto il resto, che invece sono inclusi nel biglietto MOSTRA. Questo è specificato sul sito, tra mille scritte confusionarie. Il problema è la pubblicità ingannevole: il biglietto si chiama "complesso monumentale" ma non permette di visitare il complesso ma solo la galleria. E il bello è che fino a un mese fa, tale biglietto comprendeva tutto il complesso, effettivamente. Peccato per la gestione, ingannevole

Giorno di Pasqua, siamo in quattro a Parma. Ci eravamo documentati sulle bellezze da visitare fra le quali il complesso della Pillotta che comprende il bellissimo teatro Farnese. Circa 20 minuti per fare i biglietti e poi salita allo scalone monumentale del complesso. E lì scopriamo che il biglietto per il complesso è valido solo per entrare alla Galleria e null'altro. Perché vendere il biglietto dove è stampato "complesso" per vedere solo quella che si chiama "galleria"? E, beffa delle beffe, per poter accedere al complesso (e quindi al teatro), occorre nuovamente fare la coda alla biglietteria e ricomprare un biglietto da 16 euro (ne ho già uno di 8 euro con sopra stampato "complesso") per visitare il teatro. I bambini conoscono il significato della parola "complesso " molto meglio di questi plurilaureati che gestiscono le nostre bellezze museali

Vorrei separare le varie ottiche di giudizio che questo Palazzo propone, perché se ne può parlare intendendo cose diverse e in ciascun caso il risultato varia di molto. Se per Palazzo della Pilotta si intende l'apparato museale in esso esposto, il teatro Farnese, la biblioteca, ebbene siamo di fronte ad un piccolo Louvre e solo per provincialismo nell'opinione comune non ha la notorietà che meriterebbe. Se parliamo dell'organizzazione, cominciano le dolenti note: nessun punto di ristoro che un complesso del genere dovrebbe avere al suo interno, un servizio biglietteria non del tutto efficiente, niente audioguide. Se parliamo degli spazi espositivi, credo che ci sia stato uno sforzo di recupero notevole e complesso e pur essendo il percorso per niente lineare le opere hanno trovato una degnissima collocazione. Se infine si parla della Pilotta come architettura di un palazzo, non si può certo dire che sia bello; d'accordo che è mastodontico, che è monumentale, che è emergente nello spazio, ma bello proprio no. Noi in realtà chiamiamo palazzo quello che palazzo non è mai stato, nascendo come agglomerato di edifici di servizio annessi alla residenza ducale vera e propria, poi rimaneggiato e rielaborato senza trovare mai una sua organicità. La guerra infine ha dato il suo colpo definitivo distruggendo molte cose. Perciò il bello della Pilotta va cercato dentro e non fuori, anche se l'arioso piazzale antistante dà leggerezza alla sua mole severa.

This one is enormous. The building itself and the art collection within it. Some amazing stuff but really badly presented and staffed. It could be fantastic but I was disappointed. There were four main parts to the museum. A temporary exhibition about the Farnese family, the library, the wooden theatre and the art gallery. Plus the building, which is a monumental sight in itself.

First the staff. The guy at the till was as helpful as he could be. He turned out to be the best of the bunch. The rest were awful. They seemed to be bored security guards. It was hard to distinguish them from visitors as they were all bundled up in outdoor clothes – only the lanyards gave a clue. They were rude and unhelpful. We felt variously pushed around, harassed and ignored. No sense of being welcomed and certainly none of being informed. Contrast this with the staff in English National Trust properties or the well -informed professional enthusiasts we have met in musuems in the Marche and Umbria and in other countries.

The physical presentation of individual exhibits is good, well spaced out and generally well lit -possibly too well lit in some cases. But the labelling!!! Some of it was minimal – artists’ names and dates, subjects’ names and dates. Some of it - the big explanatory panels - was just incomprehensible.

For the most part I don’t think it was a translation problem. The text was just indigestible and muddled. I think of myself as reasonably well educated and sophisticated when it comes to reading but I simply gave up in most cases. The texts were in complex language with over long sentences and some obscure vocabulary. None of it was broken up into paragraphs. Most seemed to contain information about at least three things, all mixed up together. In the art gallery they typically contained information about the art genre in the room, about a few of the key works on display, and about the history of the collection. I tried to read them and came away none the wiser.

In the temporary Farnese exhibition there seemed to be no real sequence or story and the explanatory panels were again much too complex. I like to learn about the history of the places I visit but this one just left me baffled. The story and the exhibits seemed disconnected, the panels did not really explain the exhibits and the exhibits did not always illustrate the story.

In the theatre – a stunning and fascinating site – there was almost no explanation at all. The library was a nice enough sight but again too little information and the books themselves (the whole point of a library!) looked neglected and little was displayed. It could be so much better. Other libraries manage this.

Another enthusiasm of mine is models of buildings. There were several. But again, I came away a bit disappointed. The phrase “museum quality” did not really apply to the examples on show.

My last criticism is about the sequence of the visit. We were directed round an almost empty museum in a long snake like path. Think Ikea. We had no choice about the order we visited the exhibition, the library, the theatre and the gallery. Especially in the gallery we wove back and forward through the building. This is a big issue. The collection is (IMHO) much too big to absorb in a single visit and by the end I had almost lost the will to live. They may have had some great paintings in the second half but I was saturated by what I had already seen. Any collection has highlights and padding but there was little to differentiate the important and special from the rest.

About the building itself I could see practically nothing – if an explanation was there I’m afraid I missed it.

All in all. A great sight with lots to see but let down by the way it is run and presented.
