It is worth climbing up here for the panoramic view of the upper city and Bergamo below. We reached it on foot in 20 minutes otherwise there is a funicular that leads here from the city gate. Of the castle there is not much to see except a few walls and turret. It deserves.

A little-known place rarely mentioned in the Tourist Guide, but yet this place higher than the Cita Alta of Bergamo (since you have to take a second funicular to reach it) is a haven of peace, out of the tourist hubbub of the CIta Alta and with an extra restaurant that I recommend, located right next to the arrival of the funicular, the "Baretto di San Vigilio", with a superb view on the terrace, where we went back to eat so much it was extra (it is listed in the Michelin Guide, that is...)! Ah, little practical information: the "tourist" ticket of the funicular is valid for 24 hours on both funiculars, no need to buy a second ticket!

Breathtaking view in the middle of the green , spectacular the two funiculars , the second door to San Vigilio and the eye is lost between the two cities the lower and the upper, on arrival there are 2 restaurants with unique views of the upper city and lower Bergamo as well as the spires of the cathedral of Milan on Pirelli and the skyscrapers of Corso Como , which stand out in the distance , this is visible on very busy days
Clear , further on there is a former castle now ruin that is only the highest point of bg, but honestly not worth seeing

The castle is now reduced to a tower and a few pieces of wall but it is still worth getting there to see the wide panorama, the luxurious villas and the upper city as a whole. Beautiful also in this period the garden in the middle of its luxuriance and with jasmine all bloomed. It is better to climb with the second section of the funicular, otherwise the "walk" becomes long and tiring.

The hike up was a bit steep, but the view of the city was worth it.
In my opinion, the castle itself is not necessarily the highlight, but rather the route there, as you can always find good vantage points of the old town of Bergamo.

Spectacular views of the mountain and both parts of the city, around there are benches and cannons and other military devices.
We didn't enter the museum, but the garden around it is worth it for the view.

Nice old castle, not much to see but views is great. You can see the alps and whole bergamo. Place is free and easy to visit by funicolar or bus 21. About 1 kilometre to walk.

I got up on the second cable car and started wandering around. Although it was the end of November, it was warm and very sunny. There were practically no people here at all - not all the few tourists at the end of November make it here. But it’s so breathable here, the air is so clean. The ruins didn’t make much of an impression, but the houses on the slopes made them the envy of those who see it all from the window every day. Although getting here by car is not at all easy. Restaurants were not open, only cafes near the funicular. There are very decent hotels, probably more suitable for those who are not in Bergamo for the first time and not for 1-2 days and want to leisurely enjoy this beauty. And after wandering along the slopes for 2 hours, I went down on foot; I didn’t want to go down by cable car.

Beautiful walk, but it's a shame that after purchasing the funicular tickets they didn't let us go up because I had a two kilo dog in my bag😢

We took the San vigils funnicular to the Castillo, some great views of the city mountains and some walls to climb. There are a few restaurants to refresh, nice place to visit.
