Nulla di più che Vecchie Mura fortificate, pensavo avessero maggiore attrattiva ma si tratta di solamente di Mura adiacenti a nuove costruzioni che non ne valorizzano affatto l'eventuale interesse che un visitatore potrebbe avere.

Per trovare ciò che rimane delle antica mura impostate "Largo Montenero". Si trova a poca distanza da Basilica e Municipio.

Come indicato dal nome dell'attrazione, i resti della cinta presentano ciò che resta di un vecchio castello. Castello che ormai non presenta tracce, lasciando spazio solo a delle banali case costruite nel ventesimo secolo, un vero peccato.

Purtroppo quello che rimane visibile oggi è quello che rimane della Torre Viscontea e della cinta muraria fatta costruire da Azzone Visconti nel XIV secolo, altri resti sono inglobati nelle costruzioni odierne.

The walls of Lecco were a perimeter fortification from the unusual triangular plant defending the village of Lecco.
They were built, together with the castle, in the 14th century.
Today, only some smaller parts of the city walls can be adminered.
It's worth to take look.

Nel centro di Lecco, poco distante dalla stazione e dalla Basilica di San Nicolò, si possono vedere i resti del borgo fortificato ( l'antico castello e le fortificazioni). Questa cinta muraria venne fatta erigere nel 1336 da Azzone Visconti, signore di Milano, per proteggere la città. Venne poi ampliata dagli Sforza ed in seguito dagli spagnoli ( ecco perché si chiamano mura spagnole). Da una scalinata è possibile scendere nel prato.

Su consiglio della guida mi sono recata in via Bovara a vedere ciò che resta del Bastione della porta di Vianova la parte superstite dei resti delle fortificazioni del castello di Lecco, la cinta venne distrutta dal 1782, i resti sono ancora esposti visibilmente da via Volta a via Cavour e accanto al sagrato della Chiesa di S. Nicolò, ci sono i cartelli informativi.

Il vallo delle mura si trova in posizione un po' defilata, all'inizio del centro storico. Offre un bello scorcio paesaggistico e un indizio di ciò che un tempo fu Lecco.

Il vallo delle mura è quanto resta di visibile della cinta muraria che Azzone Visconti fece costruire nel 1336 per fortificare Lecco. Verso il 1500, si ebbe un adeguamento della fortificazione da parte degli spagnoli: si rafforzarono le difese con l'introduzione di una postazione cannoniera.
Fino al 1782 le mura di Lecco restarono intatte, quando con la caduta degli Spagnoli e l’avvento del dominio austriaco, il castello di Lecco venne così smembrato e venduto ai privati.
