A Magical Tile Tour!

Once you get past the rough, unmarked wooden door where Google Maps leads you, you'll wander past some scaffolding, up the stairs and into a magical experience. This is a terrific collection in the owner's stunning private apartment! Our tour turned out to be private, and afterward we had time to wander back through the lovely rooms of exqusite tiles. Go for the tiles, go for the sweet cats wandering throughout. It's wonderful!

This is such an unexpected and wonderful museum, set in a beautiful 16th Century palazzo…the story of an 11 year old’s obsession with hand-painted majolica and his discovery of a way to share his collection simply and without being tainted by outside ‘money interests’. Museum relies on visitors’ donations/tour fee - please support by visiting.

This was my favorite museum during my stay at Sicily. Our tour guide was very thorough, even while they were short-staffed, and she answered all of our questions. Plus, getting to the museum is a little like finding a speakeasy--really fun, but you got to follow the directions exactly.

The museum itself was gorgeous--and that kitchen! Stunning!

Posto incantevole. Il museo si trova in una casa privata che presenta una collezione di maioliche italiane di diverse epoche. La guida preparatissima e appassionatissima ti accompagna in questo percorso mozzafiato. Consigliatissimo. Non utilizzare il sito per la prenotazione né per la consultazione degli orari, affidarsi all'app "la via dei tesori" che consente di prenotare e pagare (in loco pagamento solo in contanti)

Particolare...

Il posto ha valso la pena della fatica di trovarlo e visitarlo. Palazzo assai fuori mano, accoglienza particolare (basterebbe mettere un cartello o un campanello più visibile). Comunque superata la difficoltà di trovarlo ed entrare, la casa è veramente affascinante come le spiegazioni del padrone di casa. Devo dire che non si può ammirare la passione del collezionista (l'ho invidiato molto.....) così come le collezioni a fianco della maioliche (ho visto dei giocattoli con ui ho giovato pure io).
E per finire......"Vi lascio qualche minuto per fare le foto e per girare la casa da soli !"

Incredibile...non ci avrei creduto se non lo sentivo con le mie orecchie.

Posto magnifico, assolutamente da visitare!

Appartamento privato delizioso, tappa assolutamente da includere se si soggiorna a Palermo. Mai ti aspetteresti avvicinandoti alla facciata del Palazzo che dietro a quel portone e su da quella scala si possa aprire uno scrigno così delizioso. In più è una tipologia di casa-museo che difficilmente si ha l'occasione di visitare, unica nel suo genere. Unica pecca, personale un pò ansioso, gli spazi non sono immensi e l'affluenza cospicua. Andateci e innamoratevene

Visit a private Majolica Tile collection and maybe stay overnight!

This private collection of floor tiles is mind blowing.. While touring the private apartments of this partially restored palazzo you will be amazed by the handmade floor tiles that cover nearly every inch of the walls. It’s a version of Sicilian history not otherwise noticed and made us appreciate all the tiles seen later in our trip. But the wildest thing about this museum is that you can stay here! The owners offer several apartments to visitors. We stayed 4 nights very comfortably.

Hidden gem. The tiles are beautiful and the history of how they were collected is fascinating. Doesn’t take long for the tour but they let you stay as long as you like. We also stayed at the attached BnB for 4 nights and loved it.
