the Convent of San Domenico was established at the beginning of the 15th century. there is not much worth to see, but you may stop on your way up or down from/to Fiesole, as it lays on the road.

Da Firenze verso Fiesole troviamo il Convento di San Domenico, antico di 600 anni, piacevole costruzione con un bel porticato, all'interno conserva affreschi e pregiate opere d'arte.

The Convento is situated half way up the steep road to Fiesole. The bus leaves Piazza San Marco in Florence and takes about 25 minutes to get to Fiesole ... The panorama of Florence viewed from the belvedere of Fiesole is simply great .... You can choose to visit the Convento Di San Domenico either on the way up or down from Fiesole ... But be careful of the opening times. In summer, at least the Church opens between 09.00 and midday and then it reopens again at 4.00 p.m. That said the actual convent was not open to the public when we visited ... The modest medieval church with its adjacent church yard more than made up for that though. Indeed the Church boasts numerous paintings by Giovanni da Fiesole, better known as Beato Angelico - the Catholic Patron of artists and the arts. The Convento in fact has a commemorative plaque which explains that Fra Angelico and Antonino Pierozzi, later Archbishop of Florence who was eventually canonised, both studied there. It's well worth a visit, even though it's a bit off the beaten track and you can combine it with seeing Fiesole with its Etruscan remains at the site of the Roman amphitheatre.

This is an old convent at the top of Fiesole. The convent is kind of interesting, but not nearly as much as San Marco (in Florence). The major reason to go here is for the fantastic views of Tuscany. On a clear day, you really can see forever.

The globus tour we were on included this stop to do a very brief look at the basement area where cells are contained. The local guide told a fascinating story of young men doing some exploring and falling upon these cells which were found to be inquisition chambers and holding cells. The graffiti on the walls were described as a record of prior occupants misgivings. True or not, it was not what I see around home and was a good stop. Would have been nice to see more of the art.

dopo aver risalito la bella e panoramica scalinata che porta a questo piccolo convento(tra cui sono presenti delle suore di clausura)si è potuto ammirare tutta firenze dall'alto..
