Auf der Stadtführung machten wir Halt in der Kirche. Der Turm mit dem Feuerwächter Zimmer und die Fresken vor dem Eingang mit einer der ältesten Kameldarstellung waren eindrücklich.

This is the main Church of cute town of Thun, set on an elevated position above the old town, few steps from the neighboring Castle.
Both, the interior and exterior are pretty simple, but the view of the surrounding area from that position is gorgeous.

Se all'esterno, da lontano in particolare, la sagoma della chiesa può avere qualcosa di piacevole ed interessante, all'interno il suo fascino si squaglia come neve al sole.

Neben dem stattlichen Schloss ist die reformierte Hauptkirche der Stadt Thun weithin sichtbar. Sie erstrahlt frisch renoviert mit ihrem achteckigen Turm aus dem Mittelalter (um 1330) und dem barocken Predigtsaal von 1738 in neuem Glanz. Wer seit dem Innenumbau von 2014 die Kirche betritt, ist erstaunt über die Schlichtheit des Gottesdienstraums. Beeindruckt vom Dreiklang am Eingang: "Glaube - Liebe - Hoffnung" verlässt man nach einiger Zeit der Besinnung die Kirche und steigt gestärkt in die pulsierende Innenstadt hinab.

Questa chiesa bianca dai tetti rossi come il castello si trova a fianco dello stesso nella parte alta di Thun. L'interno ha qualche affresco interessante.

Vom Schlossparking aus kann man mit dem Lift bis auf die Höhe der Stadtkirche fahren. Man wird mit einem prächtigen Panorama belohnt.

while the church is not much special except the oder tower and few paintings left at the entrance, there is a nice panorama view from the area behind the church. So if you already made the climb up to the castle, don't leave out the church.

On our return to the train station from visiting the Thun Castle, the Thun Stadtkirche is conveniently located a block away. It is a simple but beautiful church; its simplicity is what makes it so unique and worth visiting. The church tower dates back to about 1330 and other portions date back to the 1400's. We stepped inside however we only viewed the interior from the back as there was a service going on when we visited. The church inside is as simple and beautiful as the exterior. Adjoining the church is a side yard with some gardens that are well worth to walk around; you get some fantastic views of the castle and the surrounding countryside. Another unique aspect is the route to and from the church is via a covered set of wooden stairs called the Kirchtreppe dating back to the 1800's - very neat to see and use. It is well worth a visit when in Thun.
