It’s a definitely must see when you are in Arnhem. The museum consists of different houses or mills from all over the Netherlands that were moved there. The buildings show the life in the Netherlands in 20th century both of upper and lower class. I was there in low season so it was impossible to get inside of the houses but still it was worth the visit ( which took me around 3 hours). There are many possibilities of refreshment inside of the museum. Overall really great experience.

What a beautiful place to visit, even on a cold day. We could easily spend an entire day here.
We were lucky enough to have a tour with Mandy and Paul who were knowledgeable about the area, and happy to give ideas for other trips for our week in Amsterdam.
The exhibits are beautifully cared for and it feels as though you have stepped back in time.
The pancake house looked incredible, and smelt even better, with incredibly kind and helpful staff.
The surroundings are stunning and peaceful - perfect for a day out with the family: there are fun interactive exhibits for the children to take part in, as well as marvel at the beautiful surroundings.
We can’t to visit again.

Top uitje. Met gezin geweest. Het museum was in winterweer, wat een extra dimensie geeft aan het geheel. Naast het leuke van het museum is ook het leerzame belangrijk. Mooi dat er op veel plaatsen uitleg gegeven wordt.
We hebben het "witte wieven pad" niet gedaan. Daar hebben we niet veel mee.

Iedereen kent het en is er wel eens geweest. Voor ons was het jaren geleden. Het is nu interactief geworden en met veel vrijwilligers die vol passie jouw tekst en uitleg geven. Ook leuke zaken uit het recentere verleden zoals de afhaal Chinees en het bruine café. Beslist de moeite waard.

Leuk openluchtmuseum veel te zien en te doen.. Het blijft moeilijk om dit in een dag te bekijken, dus we zullen nog een keer heen moeten gaan!! Er hebben er genoten en het weer zat gelukkig ook mee

This beautiful open air museum spread out over a vast landscaped area , where the recent history of the Netherlands comes together (meaning the last couple of centuries), should be mandatory for everyone living in the Netherlands and strongly advisable for every foreign tourist. In no other museum is the Dutch culture present so strongly. Personally, my heart melts when I take a ride with the old RET tram from Rotterdam round the museum; the tram (of course not exactly this particular tram unit) I remember from the time I was a small kid). Entrance for a fee. Free entrance with the annual Dutch museum card. Fixed daily parking fee. This fee isn't waived for the museum card holders. This museum is emphatically to be recommended.

Museu a céu aberto. Ele conta toda a historia do povo holandês, reproduzindo as casas de cada época.
O transporte entre as diversas atrações históricas é efetuado por um elétrico muito semelhante aos elétricos lisboetas
Dá a conhecer um pouco da holanda antiga , paisagens lindas com moinhos tem patinação no gelo
Apenas não gostei tanto porque estava muito frio e não consigo escolher o ano 2019

Hallo vraagje zou graag een Keer gaan met me klein kinderen maar weet niet of ze daar iets hebben ze zijn in de leeftijd van 2 en 4

Dat lijkt me erg jong. Als ze wat ouder zijn en opa/oma kan er van alles bij vertellen, dan is het heel interessant voor de kinderen.

Je hond is welkom in het museumpark, mits aangelijnd. In tentoonstellingsruimten (zoals de Canon van Nederland) en in de museale presentaties (gebouwen) zijn honden niet toegestaan. Honden mogen wel, aangelijnd, in de horecalocaties komen. Denk je er aan om de uitwerpselen van je hond op te ruimen?

If I have to choose between Open Air Museum and Zaanse Schans, which is better?
I have kids with me and will be in Amsterdam in December.

Zaanse Schans has 2 types of attractions, windmills of several sorts (only 1 or 2 are admission free) and a shoe factory (which is free as well).
There are lots of photo ops.
We visited only one additional windmill which I found fascinating but the kids were not so impressed.
The most intense memory my kids have of Zaanse Schans is the foul smell of the chocolate factory on the other riverbank (I never imagined that a chocolate factory can smell that awful)
One the other hand the Open Air Museum has a lot of exhibitions spread on a large area (with a connecting train), most of them are various types of houses of differents eras and regions in the Netherlands.
The exhibitions we found most interesting were of old professions, such as boat maker, broom maker, honeybee keeper.
In addition the Open Air Museum can be enjoyable even when the weather is less than perfect.

Er zijn inderdaad rolstoelen te verkrijgen op de parkeerplaats van het museum. Ze staan naast de mindervalide-baan. Verder gaat er een muntstuk van een euro in de rolstoelen. Reserveren is niet mogelijk. Verder is er bij de kaartcontrole nog een rolstoelvriendelijke route beschikbaar op papier.

There are.several possibilities. However, bus line nr. 3 offers a service 4 times per hour. Direction: Burgers' Zoo, stop at "Openluchtmuseum".
The bus will go to Burgers Zoo first and then will arrive at "Openluchtmuseum " (5 min. walking to the museum)
As it is a trolleybus, electrically driven like a tram on rails, it is a nice experience as well.
