One of the links in the story of September 1944. Although not the original. The bridge museum is nearby for views and the history. If your not particularly interested in the history of what happened here, there would be not a lot of point in visiting.

This bridge looks like thousands of other bridges in Europe and for someone who is not interested in history it will not be worth paying more attention to.
However, I am a history lover (especially WW2 period) and for me it is a special place, I have seen before in films and about which I have read a few books. It was the place, I always wanted to visit - and I have finally managed to do it!
Of course, it's all about operation Market Garden in September 1944, and it is the bridge which turned out to be the one too far.
For all those who like history and would like to fully understand what I am writing about, I highly recommend watching the movie "A bridge too far", the day before visiting this place (just like I did, even if I've seen it five or six times before).
This will also explain the name of the bridge: John Frost bridge.
I can only add that the current bridge is fully "historical", because even if it was built after the war, it is practically a copy of the construction from 1944 and even the original pillars were used during the reconstruction (if you look closely, you can even see some bullet marks).

It's tough leaving a review on this one because the John Frost bridge will only attract a certain type of visitor who knows its relevance in history. It is actually quite a mundane place with a small museum nearby but that contrasts with the ferocious violence that went on here.

Still here - well it has been rebuilt a few times. You will need a guide if you know nothing of Operation Market Garden otherwise an interesting place to visit.

De brug is gebouwd tussen 1932 en 1935 ; de brug vormt de verbinding tussen de Arnhemse binnenstad en de wijk Malburgen in Arnhem-Zuid. Tijdens de Operatie Market Garden in 1944 had deze brug een belangrijke strategische rol. Genoemd naar de Britse overste John Dutton Frost.

While on a river cruise, the boat parked very close to the John Frost Bridge. It's another reminder of history that should not be forgotten. Definitely worth a minute or two of reflection.

The bridge is a bit weird in that it is now a bustling artery into a quite large town (not that it could remain frozen in time!j but it was a bit hard to imagine what it must have been like almost 80 years ago!
That said it’s important to see as a key part of British military history and should be seen in conjunction with the nearby airborne museum and the memorials and museum a little further up the river

Il ponte é conosciuto sopratutto per una grande battaglia tenutasi durante la seconda guerra mondiale, fu l´ultima vittoria fuori dai propri confini dell´esercito tedesco, a tal proposito é stato anche fatto un famosissimo film, il ponte é particolare e ció che lo rende ancora piú particolare é la sua storia.

We will arrive in Arnhem by train on May 12 and spend two nights. How do we get to the War Museum and bridge? Can we walk it or are there taxis available? We love World War II history because my father was part of the D-Day invasion at Normandy.
