Magnifique village , nous n’avions pas la météo de notre côté , froid , vent , en avril , ce n’était pas complètement fleuri , mais c’était déjà magnifique

The way to visit Giethoorn...

Excellent location, and fantasic staff....really helpful, €35 for 2hrs and a helpful map, an excellent, joyful experience just crusing on the canals and lake of this beautiful part of Europe. Just visit. And the restaurant, lovely, lovely atmosphere, great food and good wine. Prices ok at around 15/20€ a meal and €20 + for a bottle of wine.

Very bad experience

We don’t recommend to rent a boat from smit!
First of all, It’s much more expensive then the others…
the instruction we got from the workers was misleading, so you get lost on your way back and be asked to pay more. We rent a boat for 3 hours and payed 100€! On our way back we got lost (just because the wrong expiations we got from them). It was nightmare to find the way back with little kids… when we finally got back (half an hour late), They charge from us extra money. We tried to explain that we got lost, but it doesn’t help. We also wanted to have a dinner there, but we gave up and leave the restaurant due to the bad attitude of the workers.
Smit, the owner, is so unkind, that we feel bad for renting the boat from him and not from the others.
The best part was when I tried to explain to him that the map is confusing and miss leading, he suggested that maybe next time we should take a guided tour cause we are stupid to understand a map by ourself. We highly recommend to NOT go there!

Hunde auf den Booten erlaubt.
Einfach du fahren mit den Elektro Booten.

Poor customer experience

We rented a simple boat for 3 hours, told guys we have to check out from hotel at 12.30 at latest. First hour was great and we enjoyed going on boat through the village! Unfortunately, after one hour boat motor stopped responding and was going only full speed! We were circling in the lake for quite a while trying to understand how we should slow down and stop at the island. Called to service desk several times and every time a new guy was answering and we had to explain again and again. Finally they provided a replacement boat - so nice of them! Compensation? Not even apology or payback for an hour of stress... 6 young guys at service point and no one was aware about the accident or offered apology... That was very expensive rental - pay for 3 hours and use only two and adrenaline on top!

Super service

We hebben het super naar ons zin gehad. In ochtend is het prima te doen, in de middag is het super druk en niet zo leuk. Veel frustraties tussen de mensen.... wij waren natuurlijk helemaal verkeerd gevaren, helemaal naar zwartsluis. Prima instructies gehad, top service. Misschien een kaartje in de boot hangen wel zo handig. Meer bordjes in giethoorn zou ook een pre zijn.

Excellent and very picturesque place for a day visit. Spend the night in the Giethoorn hotel and rented an electrical boat with Smit for a trip through the canals. Best bet to avoid the touristic crowds is to have a boat trip before 1 pm. Personal at Smit is friendly and very helpful. Thanks a lot Jens, Daan and Gerro for your enthusiasm, help and humor. We really enjoyed our stay. Lunch at the same place is highly recommended and absolutely delicious. Try the salads in the restaurant!

Boottocht via social deal

Heel leuk boottochtje door giethoorn, goeie gids die leuk vertelde. Ik had tickets via social deal. Vooraf koffie en gebak, appeltaart. Neem ook echt datgene waaruit je kan kiezen want als je iets anders besteld betaal je de hoofdprijs!!! Voor een ander gebakje betaalde ik €4,50!!!!!!! En voor ander soort koffie betaal je ook veel bij, dus misschien een tip voor anderen…..

Unfortunetly this village is very racist ! Trough out a documentry we saw on national television. Very sad too see how they al maked a turkisch mother and soon their life sour and bullied them. I would recomment not to go to Giethoorn.

We hadden een twee persoons kano gehuurd. Prijs is prima in orde. Voor 2 uurtjes €20 moeten betalen. Echter krijg je bij het begin geen uitleg of algemene regels te horen. Het is pokkedruk op het water en door elektrische boten komen er behoorlijk wat golven. Eenmaal bij het open water ga je dus echt alle kanten uit. Voor “ervaren” bestuurders prima te doen. Anders een afrader.
