La Cittadella di Namur è iscritta nel Patrimonio Eccezionale della Vallonia ed è una delle più grandi strutture del genere in Europa.

Si raggiunge facilmente grazie alla teleferica che parte dal centro di Namur.

La sua vera attrattiva sono i 4 chilometri di sotterranei, che oggi sono visitabili solo parzialmente e accompagnati da una guida. Corridoi e stanze sono di grandi dimensioni e ben illuminati, non generando nessuna sensazione claustrofobica.

Si viene catapultati nella vita dei soldati che la hanno abitata nelle varie epoche, grazie ad animazioni in 3D, proiezioni ed effetti sonori.

Belle citadelle qui se visite rapidement gratuitement. La visite des souterrains sont payant avec un guide. Prendre le téléphérique pour monter et descendre à pied est idéal.

Unmissable visit

I walked to the top and came back by the cable car 🚡 and it is was worth it. At the middle of the way I visited the museum, where I learned the history of the citadel, and I went on the guided tour of the underground tunnels, that you must not miss. At the top there was also an exhibition and a rose garden. The view of the city was amazing.

Not to be missed when in Namur - the Citadel.

The Citadel at Namur is a fascinating historical construction that contains hundreds of years of history on one site. The excellent museum and visitor centre provides an in-depth history of the phases that the Citadel's construction underwent. Some of the maps, models and military artefacts are superb. The guides are excellent and can provide the tours in different languages to suit all visitors. The tour which takes the visitor beneath the citadel is not to be missed and well worth the hour or so that the journey takes to complete; the tunnels are spacious and one should not feel claustraphobic, so don't be put off by the thought of being underground. The key moments in the citadel's history are portrayed at the very places the incidents took place.

Neem je tijd om alles te ontdekken. Is heel leuk ook om met kinderen te doen. Het treintje is leuk. Is wel een beetje hobbelig. De ondergrondsgangen zijn zeker de moeite. Mooie uitleg in het Nederlands. Hou wel rekening dat er veel trappen zijn. We hebben genoten van het uitzicht op de citadel.

Citadelle Pass

We wilden erg graag de ondergrondse gangen en Terra Nova bezoeken dus boekten we deze op voorhand. We zagen dat een Citadelle Pass evenveel kost als een bezoek aan de ondergrondse gangen plus een bezoek aan Terra Nova samen. Het treintje was dus eigenlijk gratis met deze pass. Ach ja, waarom niet. Dus boekten we de pass. Zorg ervoor dat je niet teveel gegeten hebt voor je in het treintje stapt want je wordt doorheen geschud zoals op de houten rollercoaster van de Efteling. De ramen zijn bovenaan vastgeplakt van het rammelen. Mijn vel werd geplet tussen het raam en de scherpe randen van het treintje zelf. Wat was me dat. Van de info onderweg heb ik niet veel verstaan. Een hels lawaai. Gelachen hebben we wel! Dit treintje is niet gemaakt om op kasseien te rijden, zoveel is duidelijk. De ondergrondse gangen daarentegen zijn zeker wel de moeite waars. Heel mooi gedaan met visuele voorstellingen. De rondleiding werd gegeven door een franstalige man die zijn uiterste best deed om Nederlands te praten. Hij stak er ook wat humor in. Top. Terra Nova was mooi gedaan en je kreeg een audio guide, maar het duurde te lang. Teveel luisteren op een te kleine plaats waardoor je al snel begon te vervelen. Niettemin hebben we geen spijt van de Pass. De Citadelle is sowieso enorm indrukwekkend! Alleen zou ik enkel de geleide ondergrondse gangen aanraden en de rest gewoon zelf buiten ontdekken.
