We knew the restaurant, having enjoyed a meal there before and wished to take guests with us, What a botch and an embarrassment!
We booked, 10 days before, and asked if they would serve "aged beef" as a special request. No problem... but they were blank when we arrived! What would be served was what was on the menu, and that offered very few choices! 5 to be exact for the main course, including the famous 'cozido' and a vegetarian option with charred leeks that definitely did not appeal. This left you with 2 fish courses and one very conventional tenderloin steak. After a trip to the kitchen, we were offered a rib eye steak which we took by default. We asked for very rare. A small piece of meat was produced, half overcooked, the other half rare but just gristle and fat., priced at 40/person!! Had we not had guests, it would have been sent back. They chose the cozido, which was no more than the usual very ordinary boiled dinner.
And, do not plan to share the heirloom tomato salad as a starter for 12€, because you will hardly have 2 bites each served on a ridiculously large plate! The ceviche was good, but again, once you share it and give a bite to the friends, there is nothing left! The bill came to 200€ with 2 shared deserts for 4 and a bottle of wine. We skipped coffee and were sorry for ourselves! The only good thing was that it is quiet enough that you can enjoy a conversation, which is not often here in restaurants. For a good steak , go to Casa do Abel or the Agricola Association, the quality is vastly superior, and always skip the 'famous' cozido, because wherever it is served it is always boiled and sadly bland!

Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Furnas. The scenery throughout was beautiful and our guide, Ricardo, was extremely knowledgable. The tea plantation, hot springs and lunch make this day (and we even had spare to take home for dinner!) Ricardo enabled us to explore in our own time and we did not feel rushed. Definitely recommend!

Voor natuurliefhebbers is een dagje Furnas een absolute aanrader! Het Terra Nostra Park is erg mooi. Als je wil zwemmen: neem oude zwemkleding mee (het meer is geel en geeft blijkbaar af...) De wandeling door het park is de €8 entree zeer de moeite waard. Wij wilden daarna nog wandelen en hebben vanaf de parkeerplaats in het dorp nog een wandeling om het Furnas meer gemaakt. Je komt dan ook bij een stukje waar vulkanische activiteit (borrelende en kokende zwavelbronnen) zichtbaar is. Entree is €3 en is mooi om te zien. Het rondje om het meer was heel leuk en afwisselend met bruggetjes, een verlaten kerkje en standbeelden van dieren. Aanrader!

Wonderful hike. Our tour guide, Hugo, was incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend.

Die Tour zum Lagoa do Fogo habe ich im November gebucht.
Unser Tour guide war Deni - zusammen waren wir zu viert.
Deni ist ein wunderbarer guide - sie hat vor, während und nach der Wanderung so viel Interessantes über die Azoren berichtet und unsere Fragen beantwortet: Über Pflanzen, Tieren, Geologie und Geschichte, aber auch über das tägliche Leben auf den Azoren.
Die Wanderung ist sehr abwechslungsreich und am Kraterrand angelangt hatten wir eine fantastische Aussicht auf den See.
Ein großes Dankeschön an Deni für diesen wunderschönen Tag.
Die Tour wurde individuell an die Bedürfnisse und Kondition der Teilnehmer angepasst - der Veranstalter bzw. Deni als guide sind wirklich sehr zu empfehlen.

We chose this at the last minute when another operator cancelled us, but it worked out great. Pedro met us at the cruise bus stop and off we went. Pedro knew all the sights and how to get there. Highlight was the buffet lunch with lots off different items we had not had before (goat, octopus, rabbit anyone?). Personable guide skilled at traveling the lesser seen locations all around the crater.

My sister and I were lucky to have a private tour with Deni during our recent trip to Ponta Delgada. The tour itself was amazing - a great way to see some of the highlights of San Miguel island. Deni was a fabulous guide. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and it felt like we were old friends enjoying a day out together. I highly recommend this tour.
