The Castelo has been lovingly restored as a Pestana hotel. First off, all hallways had a subtle but very pleasant atomizer scent wafted in, a smart and pleasant addition to an old space. The room was pleasant and very comfortable, with twin beds and a couch and a chair. We asked for a sea view room and the view was indeed amazing! The breakfast was amazing, not a single option omitted, and the breakfast and reception service were impeccable! We enjoyed a glass of wine in the top courtyard, but did not dine in the restaurant or visit the bar area. We stayed two nights and had plenty of time to visit the fantastic Mercado do Livramento, some great restaurants in Setubal, and all surrounding parks in Setubal, about 15 minutes away by car.

Too bad there is not more detail on the history of the property. We tried to find a guide for more information (including at the tourist info site on the property) but were unsuccessful. The Castle is a massive property in a beautiful location. I am sure there are lots of stories, just wish we could have learned some of them.

We saw the castle when we stopped in Palmela during a short road trip. It's in a very pretty setting on a hilltop but isn't the most remarkable castle.

Visita imprescindible a este bonito y bien conservado Castillo junto a la Pousada del mismo nombre. Una pena toda la ladera quemada de un supongo que reciente incendio. La entrada es gratuita y las personas con dificultades de movilidad, podrían ver bastantes partes porque está muy bien acomodado aunque lógicamente, hay zonas complicadas y otras imposibles. Las vistas son espectaculares y dedicarle un mínimo de hora y media sería lo razonable ya que tiene mucho que ofrecer. Recomendable 100x100.

Encore un château ou du moins murailles, remparts et vestiges bien rénovés, sur le même style ou du moins dans le genre que ses nombreux "cousins " du Portugal, toujours presque à l'identique... dommage
A noter que nous y sommes passés 3 semaines après l'incendie qui a ravagé le site, le château y a échappé!!

Great morning spent walking around the Castle. 25 minute drive from Lisboa for a castle visit that is free of charge. A must do for anyone thinking of crossing the Tejo rover ( with a car)

O que mais gostei neste castelo foi o facto de ainda ter muitas características medievalescas disponíveis para explorar, a par dos vários achados arqueológics que se podem ver gratuitamente.

Linnan lähellä on ilmainen parkkipaikka. Parkkialue on kuitenkin hyvin pieni. Aamuisin riittää tilaa, joskin silloin ilma on vielä usvainen ettei näkymät ole niin vaikuttavat kuin selkeämmällä säällä.

The visit is free! You visit the castle battlements which are extensive but there are no interior rooms to visit. The views are spectacular.

O castelo estará aberto o dia todo, contudo a igreja tem um horário mais específico, que será de terça a domingo, das 10h ao 12:30 e depois das 14:30 às 18h!

There is an ~30 free places parking lot just before you reach the castle to the left and is well indicated. You can also park just to the gates of the castle, there are several unmarked places. This information is accurate as for June 2015.
