Outstanding hiking on Madeira and biking in the Duoro with PNT

From the first contact with Antonio (who answered my call in the middle of his night), to the office staff making our arrangements (call out to Daniela, Diana, and Catarina), to our hired driver on Madeira (Francisco), to our support guides in the Duoro, Rogerio and Nuno, we had a thoroughly outstanding experience with PNT and do not hesitate to recommend them. We were four, fit folks from Boulder, Colorado in our 70's and one who is in his 80's. PNT customized our hiking and biking so we had two days in each location affording us an opportunity to take rest days if we desired. One of our group injured his knee early on and could not hike or ride, but our drivers and support guides ensured he was along for the adventure. Our trip was put together with only a month of planning which made it challenging for PNT to find the best hotels. Antonio's hiking routes on Madeira were excellent fits and the biking routes were terrific - mostly on very quiet roads with breathtaking views and through rural villages. At each stop, he provided recommendations for restaurants for dinner if we did not want to eat at the hotel. The Ride with GPS app was excellent, keeping us on the path or the right road. This trip was billed as self-guided, but PNT provides substantial support along the way. Do it!

Amazing Views, Great Hikes

The hiking was amazing and exactly the length and difficulty we were looking for. The weather in May was perfect. The hikes chosen for us were a great mix of different terrains and the GPS app worked wonderfully to keep us on track. All the drivers were super nice and helpful and very responsive! The hotels were all very nice, clean rooms and good breakfasts. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for amazing hikes on a beautiful island!

Amazing self-guided cycling trip down the coast!lovely accommodations along the way. The staff at Portugal Nature Trails were so friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back.

Amazing week on the Real Algarve Crossing!

My husband and I biked the Real Algarve Crossing in May of 2023 and had an incredible experience! The ride was challenging and gorgeous, and we loved all of the hotels. The routes are really well thought out with a good mix of riding through villages, country roads, and dirt paths. It was definitely an unforgettable experience!

Douro valley bike tour.

Great bike tour with fabulous routes and nice hotels. Get their e bike to enjoy the views during the long steep climbs. The hotels rooms were great too. A real adventure.

Great time hiking in Portugal!

The trip was fantastic and a really great way to explore a country's coastline! The seaside views and winds really were incredible. My family had a great time and although we did not do the whole trail, it leaves something for us to do next time. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants an active adventure.

Many thanks to Portugal Nature Trails for a wonderful visit to Madeira. The guide/driver and hotels were amazing, especially for the price of our trip. PNT set up wonderful day hikes for us and arranged for us to stay in 5-star and boutique hotels. The people of Madeira are friendly and we arrived in time to enjoy some of the Flower Festival festivities/events.

Excellent time hiking in the Algarve and Douro valley with Portugal Nature Trails

We had a fabulous experience walking two self guided tours (7 days in the Algarve and 5 days in the Douro valley) with Portugal Nature Trails. The company is easy to work with to plan your trip, the tools they provide (electronic tour book and Ride with GPS app) work well, and the hiking routes themselves are fabulous. Accommodations varied a bit but were generally stellar, and the daily luggage transfers were seamless. Pick-up and drop off at the start and finish of our trips were also great. Finally, the overall value is excellent (considering services received, quality of lodging, and the beauty of the selected routes, all balanced against the cost).

If you are looking for a company to assist with planning a walking tour in Portugal, you'd do well to consider Portugal Nature Trails.

Paulo was great!

Paulo was an amazing, enthusiastic, and kind tour guide for our Sintra heritage hike. He took us through secret pathways and to landmarks we would have never found on our own. It was athletic and fun. He was so kind that he took photos of us all day so we could share it with our family. He is a perfect example of the kind people you will meet in Portugal. I would 100% recommend this experience.
