We were lucky enough to visit Restock and spent at least 2 hours there. You can find local artistry and work at accessible prices. You will find photography, painting, drawings, prints, and also crafts and small gifts. An excellent selection, expertly curated. The man who runs the place knows the story of each artist represented, which said a lot about their care and selection.

What a serendipitous discovery! This is an utterly charming gallery where a diverse spectrum of artists working in all sorts of media can be found. We truly enjoyed chatting with the congenial and erudite owner Claus and I ended up buying a mixed media painting (oil, bronze and ink) by Bettina Charlotte Radatz, whose works I have previously seen on the Saatchi website. Claus allows you to browse at your own pace while ready to offer suggestions if you should need them. From the range on offer, there is clearly something for every aesthetic taste or inclination, so head down there for a pleasant afternoon and you might soon find something for your wall or display shell. And supporting artists is infinitely better that wasting money on tacky, kitschy, mass manufactured tourist souvenirs. So pleased I added another talented artist to my international collection of over 450 paintings!

A very cute galery with several small rooms. You can find a lot of affordable pieces of art (prints and originals) from local artists and artists from abroad. The gallerist is very kind and careful.
I particularly enjoyed the Kazumi Taketomo (a Japanese illustrator) exhibition and Orintia's Madeiran laurisylve totebags.
Be careful, it closes at 6 PM (1 PM on Saturday).

You haven’t visited authentic Funchal, until you have visited Restock!
The staff are extremely welcoming and speak English perfectly. I would highly recommend visiting the gallery during lunchtime, because it is a quiet and pleasant environment with plenty of artwork to browse.
Restock is a perfect place to purchase unique locally-made souvenirs, authentic handmade jewellery and post cards. And they sell second hand books in English, German, Swedish and Dutch languages for €1 - €2 - I visited because I needed a book to read in English while on holiday.
They also display several exhibitions and sell beautiful artwork made by local and African artists that the gallery owners personally select.
Go and visit! For 1 minute or 1 hour!

Such a really great place to visit!
I fell in love with an piece by Robert Biloiu titled 'Hinterhoff', despite it already being bought by the gallery owner himself he kindly sold it to me!
I can't remember the name of the wonderfully passionate chap who ran the gallery but I am forever grateful for him selling this piece to me!
I LOVE Maderia, such a wonderful place to visit!

Derrière le marché, allez flaner dans ce lieu et découvrir des productions artistiques locales..ou pas, mais dans tous les cas, très orginales ! On y trouve peintures, tee-shirts,sculptures et autres objets de l'île, ou des expositions d'art africain. C'est à voir, avec en prime un musée du jouet attenant extra, qui vous permettra d'obtenir une réduction de 5 euros sur des achats dans la galerie.

We really enjoyed this visit. There is such a wide range of art, much of it from African artists (the owners used to live in South Africa). The owner was really interesting to talk to and we found this our favourite of all the art outlets we saw in Funchal.

i like to come here, there is a lot of local artist who display their work, you can take home a really good souvenir, which is done by the local people, different types of art to all the taste. it is worth it coming here.

We visited Restock while in Funchal for the day on a cruise. Each booth here has a wide variety of pieces from local artisans as well as African! The owner, Claus, lived for many years in South Africa and brings this vibrant and wonderful artwork to his gallery. We loved being able to enjoy the booths at our leisure without crowds of tourists, and find our perfect souvenirs. Claus gave us great information and was a pleasure to chat with. Our experience at Restock was one of the highlights of our day.
