I wish I had read the customer beware review before booking - had a strikingly similar experience!
I hate to write a bad review as Antonio seems like a nice guy but my 60 euro windsurfing lesson involved very little windsurfing and even less teaching. The wind was non-existent and while this isn't the fault of the school, the responsible thing to do as a teacher would be to reschedule for a moment when there is at least a breath of wind!
The "lesson" involved 5 minutes of explanation on land before dropping me off in the ocean and then disappearing without a word. After a while of struggling by myself Antonio's son came to offer some encouragement. He got me a bigger sail to help me get moving which was appreciated, but after 20 minutes of using this it broke. I explained that it might be better for me to finish the lesson here as the equipment obviously wasn't up to scratch - but Antonio pushed on, not wanting to lose his fee. The equipment broke another time at which point I gave up and went back to shore. The boat to bring me in also filled up with water and the engine stopped.
As if this wasn't enough I developed a rash from what I think must be fibreglass coming off the old equipment onto my skin.
I have done a windsurfing lesson before and it is not true to say that you 'just have to pick it up' - a decent teacher can really help to explain correct body positions and wind directions. As the previous reviewer said, I was also made to feel like if I wasn't having fun it was my own fault.
The only consolation is I managed to get a dip in the hotel pool after, but overall this put a sour note on an otherwise lovely trip.

We had a really scary experience with Antonio of Summer Indication today, who seems to give no value to the safety of his clients in choppy waters.
My partner and I had signed up for a stand up paddle boarding (SUP) lesson. This was the first time we were doing this in our lives. After no more than five minutes of telling us to stand in the middle of the board, to paddle hard on one side before switching to the other and how to hold the paddle, then saying we should head for a certain point in the ocean and not worry if anything happened because he would be there (untrue!), we got in the water with our boards.
Antonio came out into the ocean with us for no more than a further five minutes, told me to stand with a wider stance after I fell into the water, waved us in the general direction of where he wanted us to paddle, and then went back on land without even telling us he was going or why.
We spent time trying to work out how to paddle for ourselves, but had no idea of much of the basics; we ultimately worked out that we needed to paddle backwards in order to shift direction, for example. After about 10-15 minutes of this, probably spent doing all the wrong things because this was the first time we'd ever paddleboarded, we started feeling increasingly tired.
We also realised that we were drifting towards large rocks. It became harder to correct our course as we were getting more tired as the waves were getting stronger. All this time, Antonio was nowhere to be seen.
Ultimately, after substantial effort, we managed to get ourselves back to the entry point to the ocean, struggling to get round a swimmer without colliding with him because we didn't know how to control the boat. We crashed against the concrete a few times, and finally tied the boards to the railings using our ankle ropes. Back on dry land, we sat down to catch our breath. A few minutes later, Antonio reappeared, leading some novice windsurfers to the water. At this point, it became clear that he had combined our lessons without telling us.
With a frown, Antonio asked us what happened, and I told him we'd been under the impression that we were supposed to have a lesson with him yet he wasn't there. With a wave of the hand, he told me "ok, go". I did not go, as this needed to be discussed. I reminded him that he had a responsibility for the lives of his clients, and that we had feared that we'd end up with our skulls cracked on the large rocks that we'd had to fight the current to keep away from. He looked angry, and told me he needed ten minutes to calm down before discussing this with me further.
Ten minutes later, he was not calm. He came back and simply asked me what my problem was, so I told him we'd been in danger and he was nowhere to be seen. He replied that if we were unable to follow instructions, it was not his problem. What teacher would ever say something like this, especially when responsible for students' safety?! He told me he'd been teaching this activity for 30 years, so the problem must lie with us, not him.
I told him that I did not agree that teaching paddleboarding is something one can do in five minutes of talking on land and then not even sticking around long enough to see whether one's students are doing it right in the water. To this, he said something sarcastic along the lines of what makes me think I know more about teaching than him, so I asked him what body he did his teaching certification with, so that I could take this up with them instead. He again said something sarcastic in anger, dismissively waved his hand at me, and without answering my question he walked off.
It's very saddening to have to leave a 'customer beware' type review at a time when local businesses are really struggling owing to the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the tourism industry so hard. But having thought it through carefully, I decided that it was important for me to do so because nobody should have to risk putting their lives in the hands of someone so irresponsible without first knowing what they might be getting into. Especially if you are not a strong swimmer, which my partner isn't (she in fact TOLD Antonio this before the lesson). Please: don't take the risks lightly if you are a first-timer!
I also understand that Antonio may have had a bad day, or something may have happened before we arrived (he did seem rather grumpy when we first got there). Unfortunately, when leading people in an activity that involves a degree of risk to life or limb, this cannot be an excuse. It would have been some kind of consolation if Antonio had at least apologised for disappearing, conceded that he'd made a mistake, and assured us it would not happen again. However, at no point did he seem to accept that he'd done anything wrong. The more I tried to reason with him, the more it seemed like he might even punch me!
Thankfully, every other experience we've had in Madeira, and with Madeirans, has been an absolute delight. :-)

Great surf school with amazingly friendly and very experienced staff!! You should not miss the opportunity to go there during your stay!

We rent two paddleboards there. The guy responsible for the equipment rental was super nice and friendly, the equipment worked as expected and the location is great, it's easy to paddle around and the views are really nice. Nice spot!

It was the first time when I tried to surf.My trainer Francisco was friendly, helpful and fantastic .He was teaching me a lot of time and didn't go out from the water as much as I need. I booked the surf lesson again for next day.
I will recommend him to my friends and I think everyone should try and meet this guy !

We wanted to try paddle boarding so we booked a couple of boards with Antonio. When we set off it was clear we needed some help, so he dived in with a board and spent an hour teaching us and showing us around the coast.
He was a really great teacher and loads of fun to hang out with too. He left the boards at the resort so we could head out again later that afternoon.
He knew the area really well, and advised when and where to go.
Can't recommend him more :)

With Summer Indication you don't book just a course you book more like a local, friendly travel guide. I love this guy - António showed us around and gave us tips where you get the best food in whole Madaira.

In den Sommermonaten ist es in Funchal beim Lido möglich Jetski zu leihen und zu fahren. Was riesigen Spaß macht. Ebenfalls am Strand direkt beim Hotel Orca Praia ist dies möglich. Kosten: ca 60 Euro die halbe Stunde.
