Too many sunbeds too close together .Sun shades are of good quality .We have been coming to Symi for 8 years and always liked the charm of this beach ,but something is missing just felt hemmed in . The access to the sea is easier as owners have put a ladder in.
We cant comment on Taverna as we didnt eat there .

We eventually made Nimborio beach our ‘go to’ beach, inexpensive sun Beds, easy access into the sea via a few steps, and a lovely restaurant, where I had the best Calamari of the holiday.

Αν πας με καραβάκι στις 12 θα πρέπει να περιμένεις ως τις 4 που θα ξαναφύγει γιατί η κοπέλα που οδηγούσε το καραβάκι δουλεύει στο ενδιάμεσο και στην ταβέρνα της παραλίας...Στο δια ταύτα, τα νερά πεντακάθαρα το τοπίο εξαιρετικό αλλά η κυρία που είχε τις ξαπλώστρες και την ταβέρνα κάτι παραπάνω από τραγική. Σε εμάς χρέωσε 3 ευρώ την ξαπλώστρα σε κάτι ξένους δίπλα μας 5 ευρώ-επειδή ήταν ξένοι. Πήραμε κρύο καφέ από την ταβέρνα χωρίς παγάκια. Μόλις πληρώσαμε και απομακρυνθήκαμε είπε σε κάποιους άλλους "κάτσε να δω πού πάνε και αν έχουν πληρώσει αλλιώς να πάω τρέχοντας"... ΤΡΑΓΙΚΗ ΑΠΛΑ. Όσο για την ταβέρνα; Προφανώς σε υποχρεώνει να φας εκεί από την 4ωρη αναμονή-μάλλον καραβάκι και ταβέρνα ανήκουν στην ίδια οικογένεια. Κάποιοι άλλοι που έφαγαν εκεί, έφυγαν έξαλλοι γιατί τους χρέωσε τρελά λεφτά για χωριάτικη χωρίς φέτα. Εν κατακλείδι, μην πάτε, μην αφήσετε ούτε ένα ευρώ. Ο τουρισμός μας δεν χρειάζεται τέτοιους "επαγγελματίες"

Très jolie baie ! l'eau y est délicieuse. Parfois, c'est un peu gâché par les travaux à côté de la Taverne. Par contre, nous avons été très déçue par la Taverne, mauvais accueil et très mauvais nourriture et cher. Beaucoup de touriste amène à manger !

We walked over from Symi, but most people catch taxi-boats - the walk took about 50 minutes and was worth it, but a bit up hill at times! Plenty of sun beds on a quiet beach and friendly owners of the well stocked and basic taverna serving great food and drinks.

Η θάλασσα πανέμορφη με τα πεντακάθαρα νερά της. Λίγες ξαπλώστρες. Θα μπορούσε κανείς να αγναντεύει την ομορφιά για ώρες. Κανένα σκουπίδι ούτε στην άμμο ούτε μέσα στην θάλασσα. Αξίζει πραγματικάα

Can be accessed by water taxi or road and if you're feeling adventurous, on foot! There is a very good, family run taverna who will also hire you the sunbeds. Small, pebble beach which can be quite busy depending on time of year. Great for snorkelling or just a relaxing doze on a lilo.

A little bit of heaven.
We took the short but enjoyable taxi boat journey from Symi to get to Nimborio (4 euros pp), and afterwards walked it back to Symi to enjoy the wonderful views (a fairly easy 30 minute dander approx. unless you have any mobility issues. You can get a taxi boat back again).
Sitting by the crystal clear, blue Aegean Sea, all you can hear is the sound of the water and the birds. Bliss. People come here for peace and quiet - no music blaring, no-one shouting or talking loudly - so lovely away from the bustle of Symi and the daily crowds off the cruise ships.
The sunbeds on the beach appeared to be popular as they we nearly all taken (3 euros pp) and there were people in swimming in the beautiful blue, clean water.
We sat ourselves down at the Taverna which is very traditional and my, what a location. There is no printed menu - just a daily list of what is available written up with chalk on a board outside, such as "Shrimps" or "Sardines" etc - as simple as that. The jolly lady that owns the Taverna encouraged us to go inside and have a look at all the fresh fish available. It was a difficult choice but we eventually went for a selection to share: whole grilled Calamari, Symi Shrimps, Stuffed Tomatoes and Peppers, and Tzatziki. To be washed down with a few beers and carafe of white wine.
With the aroma of fish being freshly prepared wafting out from the kitchen inside, we waited patiently, enjoying the drinks, the views, and the silence.
Well, what a feast. Beautiful freshly cooked food full of the flavour of Greece. Possibly one of the nicest meals we had in Symi. Simple, unpretentious, delicious.
Places like this are why we come to Greece, why we love it so much. Not the busy, noisy resorts full of tourists and shops all selling the same cheap, merchandise. This is the real Greece. Please visit. Enjoy.

Nimborio seems to be the only really peaceful beach left on the Island. It has few taxi boats. The taverna has a limited menu, but everything we had was nice.

It is a pleasant walk of approx 30 mins, but can be hot in the warmer months, or you can get a boat taxi, we paid 4 euros each in August.
At the beach they charged 3 euros each for sun beds, it is a calm bay for swimming and cooling off, the taverna is average, sadly we found the staff a little miserable.
However if you want a quiet spot to spend a day and swim then this is a pleasant corner.

Hi,
My wife and I visited Symi about 15 years ago. Many days we walked to the beach of Nimborio. We are thinking about taking a break there in September 2016. Is the little tavern still there? It looked as if they had a couple of rooms to rent. Do they still do this or can anyone recommend an apartment just for two, quiet and discreet.
Look forward to comments and suggestions.

there is a little taverna on one of the Nimborio bay (Taverna Metapontis it's called). I have no idea if they rent rooms. On the other bay there is a small bar, and thegirl prepares some food too (toasts, sandwiches, and so). I would suggest the Nirides hotel, that it's placed on Nimborio bay. From there you csn reach the taverna on foot, but you should rent a scooter to reach the Symi center.
Have a nice stay in the beautiful Symi!
